Can't say I'm excited
You've got to be at least a little bit excited just to see how this turns out?

He plays aggressively attacking football....he's a larger than life character......At the very least it is going to be fascinating to see how the summer goes. Who we sign and how we set up on the first game..how we transition from the turgid shite we've seen for the last three seasons to free-flowing front-foot football. It could all go tits up of course but it is just mad enough to work and there will never be a dull moment.

COYS and COBAP!

It’s just ‘the athletic’ as the sole source for Ange being imminent signing?
Comes from Ornstein who works for the Athletic and is generally one of the better, more connected reporters.

Also Fab Romano very strongly implied the same and, while he's a tap-in-merchant, he's also almost never wrong when he puts his neck on the line.

Think it's likely going to happen. This reporting is already way beyond what we got for Slot (which also seemed close).

Manager's message from the Celtic Official site. Spot the lack of "we go again" type message here. I think he is leaving for sure....

By Ange Postecoglou

Congratulations on winning the Treble! This is your success as much as it is the players and coaching staff, and every single member of the Celtic Family deserves to celebrate this incredible moment for the club.

We know that the history of Celtic is littered with success, and this season’s Treble now takes its place alongside everything that has come before us.

It is also a significant moment for the club, given that it sets a new world record of winning eight domestic Trebles.

The aim of every Celtic team at the start of a season is to do as well as they possibly can in every competition they take part in, and that was the same for us when the campaign kicked off back in July last year.

We achieved our first objective in winning the League Cup, retaining the trophy we won last season, with an impressive derby victory at Hampden which was a great occasion for everyone to celebrate.

We followed that up by winning the Premiership title for the second season in a row, confirming our status as the best team in Scotland and that, in turn, has once again delivered UEFA Champions League football to the club.

The level of consistency the squad showed through the season, winning 32 of the 38 games, drawing three and losing just three, is great credit to the players. We also scored 114 league goals and conceded just 34 which, again, is a testament to our style of football which has entertained our supporters throughout the season.

Having won both of those competitions, we could then focus on the Scottish Cup final and the opportunity to win that trophy and so secure the Treble.

I know that the Scottish Cup final is always a special occasion for supporters and one that everyone looks forward to, and so to win this famous old trophy in the sun at Hampden is an occasion to celebrate.

This Treble now sits alongside the seven previous Trebles that the club has won under Jock Stein, Martin O’Neill, Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon, and it’s an achievement that everyone at the club is rightly very proud of.

It was also special to be able to celebrate today’s success alongside so many of our supporters in Hampden, and given that every single fan plays their part in what we do through the incredible backing they give the team week in, week out, it’s something that we can all share and enjoy together.

Thank you Again!

He didn't end it with COYS, so there's nothing concrete to read into it

Bearing in mind we have no DOF in place, I think this is pretty obviously a Scott Munn driven hire. It’s a bold move. Let’s hope it works.

Maybe, although Joe Lewis is good friends with Celtic’s majority stakeholder. They’d all have known about Ange.

Not to mention his agency/agent is a very big player in the European market (from what I’ve read) and obviously with ties to Spurs.

Fans are divided, but he’s a well-respected, well-known figure in footballing circles.

(Just making the point, not saying it’ll correlate to his success here — or lack of it…)

Imperative that we get behind him.

Enough of the toxicity and the naysayers, it’s a new day at the club and he deserves to be given a fair chance with full support until proven otherwise.

I hope everyone gets on board, and gives him the time and space to make his impact felt.

I know he is not everyone's first (or second or third) choice - but if he is the guy, then he deserves all the support we can muster.

… Don't be angry, don't be sad
Don't sit cryin' over good times you've had
There's a girl right next to you
And she's just waitin' for something to do

And if you can't be with the one you love, honey
Love the one you're with
Love the one you're with
Love the one you're with 🎶

It would be really interesting to hear how negotiations between club and a prospective manager actually play out, or perhaps for supporters to be given some firm details on targets/objectives.

For example, what targets are likely to be set for Postecoglu, and in turn what assurances would he be given in order to agree to them.

I imagine the primary target will be European qualification. As for assurances, I hope the guy is asking for a minimum spend and final say on signings and departures. How realistic that is I don’t really know.

Its obvious he was first choice all along. The timing of it all makes perfect sense. Getting it done after the cup final was always the plan :cautious:

You said, and I quote:

"Turns out though that we are on a road to nowhere according to all the ITK here, elsewhere, in the press… and so on."

That isn't a fact, the itk/press isn't coming from first hand information. So, yes it can be affected by agendas, as it isn't a primary source.

I'm going to pull you up on facts, we have won 4 significant trophies since 1980.

Feel free to be pessimistic, however that's your outtake, I've sat in the stands since the late 90's and also have the 'mental acuity" to realise there has been success on and off the field. It can't be measured by trophies.

@chas vs dave - sorry I got your goat, amigo. I just don’t dig it when someone denies another person’s perception and dismiss their emotional state. Why you or anyone else feels a need to do stuff like that I’ve always found odd. I mean, debate facts and POVs until u r blue in the face. But denying a person their emotional reaction by telling them to not get caught up in everything they read or actually see with their own two eyes doesnt sit well with me. For various reasons. That’s all. I will do my best to refrain from doing that, as clearly it seemed to rub a few folks the wrong way. Apologies! ❤️

And yay… let’s go, Ange. 🎉

He may well have had an influence but we had ITK from a respected memeber on here that the shortlisted names had all be arrived at through data analysis. Ange was on that original list. I’m sure Scott Munn would have been consulted as part of the due diligence process but I don’t think we have ended up with Ange just because of the Aussie connection.
