I don't know a huge amount about Ange but he seems to play the football I like and I like the cut of his jib. He'll do.

Manager feels kind of irrelevant at this point anyway lol

I say lay back and enjoy it. It's a helluva toboggin ride!

Been on the Celtic forums, they all seem to think he is off. All mention about their striker Kyogo. 2 years left on his deal and will be joining him. May tie in with Kulu not being completed ?
Are they saying this because they’ve heard something or are they just guessing based of the press? Not that it really matters just curious. I don’t think Kulu would tie into it, im sure Levy is just trying to lower the price as much as possible because he knows Juve aren’t in a great place atm and probably don’t want him back.

I’ve seen people getting excited about Ange because there’s a video of him shouting at his team not to pass the ball back.

I have a video of 60000 spurs fans shouting this exact same thing week in week out for the last 4 years.

I saw that. It wouldn’t work with most PL players. As soon as that ended they’d be taking the piss laughing at him behind his back.. It just smacked of a lack of control and someone unable to control his frustrations. If he became our manager he’d need to get a hold of those PDQ as they’d be tested to the full!

Ange doesn’t just play ‘good football’, his tactics are right at the cutting edge. Building on Pep’s ideas with his own tweaks to overcome the limitations of the players he has available to him.

He’s versatile, has played a number of formations successfully and everywhere he’s been (no matter what you may think of the leagues) he’s taken middle of the road teams to trophy winners.

This isn’t a “go out and run about a bit” manager, he is everything from a footballing style perspective we’ve been calling out for as a fanbase for 4 years.

I’m sick of hiring on reputation and past success, I want someone hungry to succeed with us. I want someone who sees this as their big chance and will give everything. We should be taking a risk - trying to be a budget Chelsea or City has got us nowhere. Let’s try something new. To Dare Is to Do ffs!!

fuck me, he's going to need the mother of all tweaks here........

Not sure how this post has so many likes. Even a cursory glance at Google tells you that Lito Vidigal an African football manager has managed and still does manage a decent team in Portugal. What about the suggestion BAME managers hardly get a chance? Patrick Viera, Chris Powell, Sol Campbell, Ruud Gullit, Paul Ince. I could go on.
Edit: Harry Kewell Australian. Managed Crawley, Notts County, Oldham and Barnet albeit not big euro jobs.
A cursory glance at Google tells you that Vidigal has been jobless for 18 months ;)

If it’s Ange, I’ll get behind him. Not the young, progressive we were promised a while back. But surely the football will be better to watch than has been dished up in the last few years.

Could well be couldn't it? Rolling one year contract so no compensation, low-ish wages compared to everyone else with a better CV and won't have enough credit in the bank from elsewhere to be making big demands.

Ticks a few boxes and is known by Munn. Have to say if it happens I'll back him but he's only held off the bottom of the pile of those linked by Rodgers for me.
Big Ange would be great but a rolling 1 year contract for any new Manager would be an absolute disaster and show that we've learnt nothing from the Conte situation. We need a new long-term project and certainty not more uncertainty.

This thread just goes round in circles.

Rusev Exhausted GIF - Rusev Exhausted Tired - Discover & Share GIFs

Do none of you get bored discussing the same points 24/7?
To be fair we're all repeating ourselves.

You've been repeating yourself for a few weeks, and getting increasingly annoyed by those posters over-reacting to everything, along with adding a few wrestling gifs for good measure. :)

There is very little to say at the moment and wherever we all stand on any of these managerial options we are all gong around in circles, you and me included.

It's also not specific to Spurs and Spurs fans; it's the nature of football now.

I can only imagine that this thread will be again be a peach in a few days time when we predictably don't appoint Postecoglu (because we were never going to), after all having been led around by the nose by twatty football journos again who then spin it out that we can't even prise the Celtic manager out of Scotland and are a complete joke and a failure. Because that what gets them the engagement during this period where they don't actually have a clue what's going on.

I think he means his current contract with Celtic is a rolling 1 year deal.

Just saw this Celtic fan comment from another forum linked to by Windy, and worth a read...

Hello Spurs fans
I’m a Celtic fan and I’ve read this thread, mainly to see if any of you were ITK about Ange but a few comments need to be addressed.

A lot of you seem to be referencing Gerrard as a measure of success in Scotland. Gerrard won a single title and no cups in three seasons. It was 1 trophy out of 9 he competed for. He wasn’t a success, he was hyped up by his friends in the media because he’s Steven Gerrard. Ange won more than him in ten months. He’s currently on 4 trophies out of 5 with a cup final this weekend to make it 5 out of 6.

“Rangers have a bloke in charge that must have won a competition or something” is another comment that has stood out. After Gerrard left, Rangers appointed GVB who had won the league at Feyenoord… Isn’t that the same pedigree as the guy Slot you all wanted last week? He then took Rangers to a Europa league final 11 months ago.
This season we’ve won the league against a Rangers team that had over 90 points. A total that would have won the title 9 times out of 10. We did it by scoring a record number of goals. We beat them in a semi final and a cup final. As I said, they were in a Europa final… not a bad team you know, beating Dortmund, RB etc.

Rodger’s was a good manager who was up against incredibly poor competition. A Rangers side that had just returned to the league and had people like Mark Warburton I charge and Scottish players with no pedigree. His trebles do not compare to the one Ange is on the verge of winning and frankly his football was extremely boring for the most part and he had the personality and charisma of a dish cloth.

When Ange joined us we were also underwhelmed, our forums had splits down the middle too and we started the season really poorly going out of the CL to some Danish team and losing quite a few of our opening games but when it clicked, it clicked and I’ve watched some of the most exciting, dynamic and expansive football I’ve ever seen us play. The guy has a good ethos on how the game should be played which is quick, front foot, attacking football. It’s all about winning and winning playing the football he likes. He has no time for defensive, turgid approaches to games. We went into a game against Real Madrid with one pivot in the 6, two 8s, two wingers and inverted full backs. He has no fear and we love that. We play single pivot against everyone and we press really high up the pitch, 100 miles from the off with a lot of great rotations on each wing. We take quick free kicks, corners and throw ins. You can find a lot good examples of that play from these games:

I can understand your reservations although some of it does come across as slightly entitled but you’re a club that seems a bit lost, there’s no connection between fans, manager and players. You’ve had a lot of big time hires that haven’t worked out. This guy is probably exactly what you should be looking for. He really unites the team and the fans together, he’s a passionate guy with incredible presence. Our players will run through walls for him but they are also shit scared of him. He has no time for egomaniacs or primadonnas. He’ll weed them out fast.
Lastly, this man is a mentality monster. You are criticising his lack of pedigree. Wake up, do you know how difficult it is for a guy who’s managing in Australia to get noticed? There’s a bias towards managers from Europe or in Europe. The Morocco manager referenced it during the World Cup.
Ange has had no help, no leg up ala Gerrard, Lampard etc. He started off with Australia U17s and now he could become the first Australian to manage in the EPL. He rocked up at Celtic with not one member of staff. He backs himself like you wouldn’t believe and people follow this guy, he gets everyone on board. As for Levy, Ange is in charge of everything at Celtic. He does all the signings, he rejigged all the youth set up so now they all play the same tactics as the first team. He oversees the full project. We don’t have a DOF.

Absolutely desperate for him to stay at Celtic but I know the nature of the beast. We worship him like a God. I’ve never known a manager to be so in sync with the fans. We know Ange though and he’ll be very keen on being the first Aussie to manage in the EPL given everything he’s had to overcome to get here.

Not to inflame but how many BAME players have there been in top 5 leagues in last 40 years compared to number in managerial coaching roles?
Disproportionate amount granted but it’s not necessarily to do with racism or unconscious biases etc is it? But I’ll end my interest in this particular subject here as it’s quickly becoming off topic.

Keep seeing headlines like “Spurs to step up the chase for Postecoglou.”

Now I’m imagining Levy and Munn stalking him with a giant net. They’ve started slow, on tippy toes so as not to startle their prey. Now they’ve broken into one of those half run/half walk things and Ange is looking over his shoulder and starting to sweat.

If you’d have told me AP would be our new manager a few weeks ago I’d have laughed you out of the building but im
starting to warm to the idea having looked in to his style of football and what the tactics connoisseurs think of him.

I think he’s gonna be able to handle himself well and this job will mean a lot to him.

Be nice to have a manger who isn’t an egotistical w***** in charge for a while too
The conspiracy theorist in me thinks maybe this is what Levy wants.... It is in his MO🤔...... Nahhh he wouldn't would he🥺
