To be fair we're all repeating ourselves.

You've been repeating yourself for a few weeks, and getting increasingly annoyed by those posters over-reacting to everything, along with adding a few wrestling gifs for good measure. :)

There is very little to say at the moment and wherever we all stand on any of these managerial options we are all gong around in circles, you and me included.

It's also not specific to Spurs and Spurs fans; it's the nature of football now.
Yes I have repeated myself, and I am getting bored of doing so admittedly. I was just curious if others felt the same?

The gifs are just meant to be a bit of light hearted humour mixed in. Some seem to get a bit of joy out of it. No harm meant by it if you don't.

Some don't want Ange and refuse to budge or accept if he comes (if because it still hasn't happened), some would be happy with Ange but understand he isn't first choice and needs to be given time by the fans.

I fall into the latter. Never been my first choice, hadn't even heard of him until recently but I won't hold his CV, age or nationality against him like others do seem to.

I'm looking at the currently employed managers in the top5 leagues.

In the Premier League there are managers from the UK, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Italy, all traditional footballing countries. Frank is from Denmark, but he was first an assistant coach at Brentford.

In La Liga there's a greater diversity with Chilean, Mexican, Argentinian and Uruguayan managers all currently employed. But all those are Spanish speaking countries. Pellegrini and Aguirre have worked in Spanish football for years.

Bundesliga: mostly Germans, Austrians and Swiss. One Hungarian (Hertha legend Pal Dardai), one Croat (Bayern legend Niko Kovac), one American (Pelegrino Matarazzo who lives in Germany for over 20 years), and one Spaniard (football legend Xabi Alonso).

Ligue 1: mostly French, couple of Belgians, one Armenian (Michel Der Zakarian, grew up in France), one Australian (Patrick Kisnorbo, played in Europe for 10 years), one Croat (Igor Tudor who worked in Serie A and played in Juventus for quite some time).

Serie A: mostly Italians, two Portuguese, one Croat and one Serb who live in Italy for decades now.

Of course there might be some examples of managers all around the world getting opportunities, but currently there aren't any working in the TOP5 leagues.
It's a difficult cycle because these managers in smaller leagues are not going to impress or even develop managing at a smaller level. Yet they're not getting opportunities to develop in some of the bigger leagues because teams wont take a chance on an unknown. There's a lot of things to consider too such as the culture. This is why for example South American coaches get more opportunities in La Liga as they suit the culture in Spain. I'm concerned about Anges lack of top level experience but it does shed light on why it's taken so long for him to even get this far. His Aussie background will hopefully help him with our culture too. I prefer Luis Enrique for his high level experience and the number of Spain/La Liga experienced players. I'm happy enough to take the chance on Ange though. I just want to feel excited watching Spurs again.

I bet 99% of the squad will have never heard of him which makes his job much harder as he is going to have to work twice as hard to win the them over.

This is a group that downed tools for Conte so you better believe they wouldn't show up for someone they don't fancy

I agree it could work out but I also admit if he was the manager of a league one club which I read is a comparable level to the SPL I'd be raging.

It's a strange appointment but I'm ready for the ride. Hoping we could luck into something approaching fun.
I don't think them 'not having heard of him' (by the way some of them probably have) would make much of a difference, the fact he would want to get them playing football that is actually a fun and enjoyable style to train and play in and that he's a likeable character would mean they'd buy into him pretty quickly.

Imagine you work in some office job and some guy comes in as your new Manager and he's been a hugely successful Manager at other huge brand companies so sure you give him respect at first but then within a few days you realise he is a moody bugger and very militant and its not fun to work for them, of course you will 'down tools', now contrast that to some big friendly funny Aussie guy who comes in and makes your work and job fun AND shows you a path to being successful like he's done before at some lesser known brands... then which one do you think you will be more motivated by...

Like anything in life if you enjoy it and are treated nicely you will be more motivated, its not rocket science.

Every club is influenced by data on recruitment. It's not like it's some new thing. If we're not already doing that we're in the fucking dark ages, because you can bet every other big club is doing it and have been for years. Liverpool have been the moneyball kings under Klopp.

The Brighton / Brentford model is a total red herring for me - they are obviously data led but that's on buying players for very small fees and giving them a shot in the PL, that's enabled them to circumvent their relatively miniscule turnovers. We are never going to be that - you don't build up the club to be turning over £500M a year to then pivot your recruitment towards sub-£10M signings.

I agree that we don't want a huge turnover of players but that's nothing to do with being data-led, that's because we have zero in the way of a coherent plan or identity, and with each managerial appointment we swing wildly to opposite ends of the footballing spectrum.
We are.... It's just the Levy Macro only shows £ data.....

Just saw this Celtic fan comment from another forum linked to by Windy, and worth a read...

Hello Spurs fans
I’m a Celtic fan and I’ve read this thread, mainly to see if any of you were ITK about Ange but a few comments need to be addressed.

A lot of you seem to be referencing Gerrard as a measure of success in Scotland. Gerrard won a single title and no cups in three seasons. It was 1 trophy out of 9 he competed for. He wasn’t a success, he was hyped up by his friends in the media because he’s Steven Gerrard. Ange won more than him in ten months. He’s currently on 4 trophies out of 5 with a cup final this weekend to make it 5 out of 6.

“Rangers have a bloke in charge that must have won a competition or something” is another comment that has stood out. After Gerrard left, Rangers appointed GVB who had won the league at Feyenoord… Isn’t that the same pedigree as the guy Slot you all wanted last week? He then took Rangers to a Europa league final 11 months ago.
This season we’ve won the league against a Rangers team that had over 90 points. A total that would have won the title 9 times out of 10. We did it by scoring a record number of goals. We beat them in a semi final and a cup final. As I said, they were in a Europa final… not a bad team you know, beating Dortmund, RB etc.

Rodger’s was a good manager who was up against incredibly poor competition. A Rangers side that had just returned to the league and had people like Mark Warburton I charge and Scottish players with no pedigree. His trebles do not compare to the one Ange is on the verge of winning and frankly his football was extremely boring for the most part and he had the personality and charisma of a dish cloth.

When Ange joined us we were also underwhelmed, our forums had splits down the middle too and we started the season really poorly going out of the CL to some Danish team and losing quite a few of our opening games but when it clicked, it clicked and I’ve watched some of the most exciting, dynamic and expansive football I’ve ever seen us play. The guy has a good ethos on how the game should be played which is quick, front foot, attacking football. It’s all about winning and winning playing the football he likes. He has no time for defensive, turgid approaches to games. We went into a game against Real Madrid with one pivot in the 6, two 8s, two wingers and inverted full backs. He has no fear and we love that. We play single pivot against everyone and we press really high up the pitch, 100 miles from the off with a lot of great rotations on each wing. We take quick free kicks, corners and throw ins. You can find a lot good examples of that play from these games:

I can understand your reservations although some of it does come across as slightly entitled but you’re a club that seems a bit lost, there’s no connection between fans, manager and players. You’ve had a lot of big time hires that haven’t worked out. This guy is probably exactly what you should be looking for. He really unites the team and the fans together, he’s a passionate guy with incredible presence. Our players will run through walls for him but they are also shit scared of him. He has no time for egomaniacs or primadonnas. He’ll weed them out fast.
Lastly, this man is a mentality monster. You are criticising his lack of pedigree. Wake up, do you know how difficult it is for a guy who’s managing in Australia to get noticed? There’s a bias towards managers from Europe or in Europe. The Morocco manager referenced it during the World Cup.
Ange has had no help, no leg up ala Gerrard, Lampard etc. He started off with Australia U17s and now he could become the first Australian to manage in the EPL. He rocked up at Celtic with not one member of staff. He backs himself like you wouldn’t believe and people follow this guy, he gets everyone on board. As for Levy, Ange is in charge of everything at Celtic. He does all the signings, he rejigged all the youth set up so now they all play the same tactics as the first team. He oversees the full project. We don’t have a DOF.

Absolutely desperate for him to stay at Celtic but I know the nature of the beast. We worship him like a God. I’ve never known a manager to be so in sync with the fans. We know Ange though and he’ll be very keen on being the first Aussie to manage in the EPL given everything he’s had to overcome to get here.

Great share and this is exactly what I mean when I said yesterday that people comparing him to Gerrard is lazy and an uneducated opinion.

Funnily enough when all the bets and odds were flying around for Slot, JN etc, the only bet i actually got around to placing was on big Ange.

So at least if it comes off it'll pay for some (much needed) Spurs related therapy...

Scenes when we announce a double whammy of JN and Rangnick.

It'd be worth it purely for all the backtracking on here re: the bald **** fucking chrome dome gnome (copyright @Bobbins and still giving me a daily chuckle)
