You said "Levy knows more about Tottenham than the entire forum put together" and also that " you don't get why people say he isn't a 'football person' and 'doesn't get it' "

You then proceed to finish by saying "The problem is that he hasn't been making the right choices and, certainly recently, hasn't been good at the football side of his job"

Perhaps maybe just maybe he's not good at the football side of his job and hasn't been making the right choices because erm... he's not a football person and doesn't 'get it'

:ROFLMAO: ;)(y)
Ha ha I must admit, that thought did cross my mind.

I understand now why we've hired Munn and we're going to hire a DoF and that we're going to hire a manager from within, Levy is shifting gears to manage us himself.

If Slot is our first choice...

Frank Arnesen was Sporting Director at Feynoord (with Slot) until last summer and is currently out of work. Anyone know if there would be any scope for him to return to Spurs (may have burned too many bridges when he left for Chelsea) or to work alongside Slot again (why did he leave Feynoord last summer?).

I thought he did a great job for us, before being poached by Chelsea. There was a reason that Abramovich was willing to pay a reported £8m compensation to secure his services.

He was behind a complete squad rebuild, which resulted in us challenging to break into the top 4 for the first time, while simultaneously having the youngest squad in the league. There's lots of discussion about us needing to focus on signing talented players with high potential, rather than trying to compete with big clubs for the finished article...Arnesen is the man who instigated our transfer strategy of signing young English talent. Robinson, Carrick & Dawson (all early 20s) signed in his first window, along with the more experienced Naybet and Pedro Mendes, all signed for relative pennies. Lennon & Huddlestone signed only days after Arnesen was suspended (for talking to Chelsea without permission), so he was presumably responsible for them too.

He might not be the best option, but he'd certainly be a return to the approach that took us from a mid-table team to regularly qualifying for Europe.

He stepped down from Feyenoord due to health issues.

Although it would be very Levy to have one DOF in prison due to a pre-existing court case.

Then the next DOF to die due to a pre-existing health condition.

Both will be followed by statements from Daniel saying that "No one could have seen this coming".

Who keeps putting money on Rodgers? He’s back down to 7/2 joint favourite on Skybet now, despite no serious sources saying he’s under consideration.

Apologies if it's already been posted (I've only had time to check the last couple of pages of the thread) but The Athletic has an extraordinarily positive article on Slot today, and the two main themes repeatedly are: he plays positive football at all costs, no matter what system he uses, at high tempo and energy (thus uses mostly younger players), and players seem to absolutely adore him, pretty much unconditionally.

With a strong DoF getting him players at the level required for the PL (which will be way above what has worked for him in Holland), it sounds like a very promising appointment. He seems to have a good combination of traits which make him right for the job, not the least of which is that Spurs represents a quantum leap forwards for him in his career and thus a job he will hopefully be proud of and excited by.

Let me know if you want the article content posted.

Maybe i'm being sceptical but wouldn't suprise me if Levy waits for a few weeks after the season is finished before announcing Mason.
Be perfect timing as people will have less interested with season over and no chants/protest ar games
That’s a cynical view on Levy/Board… which I suspect isn’t too far from the truth. I certainly do think the board have timed big announcements with season ticket deadlines in mind.

You know, i like Ryan. I appreciate that he is club kid. I think he has shown moments of being capable of being a PL manager.

That is why i don't want him to be our manager. He is a hard worker who is at the very beginning of his management career. He is going to make a ton of mistakes, tactical mistakes, personnel mistakes, media mistakes, mistakes with the supporters etc.

I would rather he go elsewhere and get the experience on how to handle and grow from those mistakes because if he makes those mistakes with Spurs he will be crucified by supporters and the media and and this time next year we will looking for another "more experienced" manager.

Unfortunately i have the sinking feeling we may appoint him and in a year there will be a fair amount of people saying "If only we had appointed X we wouldn't be looking for another manager, again."
I agree that there would be a fair share of fans, including me who would be disappointed with Mason being appointed. Fair criticism would include a lack of experience as Head Coach and unfortunately for Ryan, he has remained at Spurs learning his trade as part of someone else’s coaching team.

However, I don’t think he can be judged on his record, which on both occasions have been short and in the context of steadying a sinking ship. Any manager appointed would be given a lot longer to embed their philosophies, training schedules and given transfer windows to improve/streamline the squad, none of which he has had time to do.

I don’t believe any of us really have a grasp on how good a coach he is but he is clearly highly thought of by previous managers.

Perhaps Mason, under an effective DoF would be exactly the rebuild Spurs need? Perhaps this job has just come too soon. Perhaps, if he has aspirations to be a top manager, he will need to take a job elsewhere to prove his pedigree the way other former players have at “smaller” clubs before he can be fairly assessed.

Just saying that the reflex feelings around Mason that most fans presumably have are not well informed (yet).

Im pretty confident it'll be Slot and it'll be announced at the end of the season, probably after we announce a DoF**

(**The fact that I have £100 @ 16/1 on Slot has no bearing on this view in any way:))

I don’t remember that episode of Record Breakers.
Can't even remember what show it was on, or why the hell I was watching it but she had a colonic irrigation in TV and as she tried to hot foot it to the loo, she shat on the floor. It literally fell out of her arse.
It was like some weird fever dream!

There are lot of things to like about Slot. But lets be honest, he will be a big gamble. He could be a Ten Hag or a average Koeman or even worse Frank De Boer

My biggest problem with him is, his lack of experience handling star players. There's simply no player in Feynoord you would say is a star player or high maintenance player

When things get tough in PL, can he get the team going ?

At the moment, thats as big a gamble as asking Mason to be headcoach.

I dont mind Slot, but I would prefer another coach who has experienced the ups & downs with a slightly bigger team
