Compilations, heavily snipped YouTube vids showing 3 seconds of play, stats, expert articles and the like almost always mean nothing, in my opinion. I remember - and with a mixture of finding it hysterically funny and utterly depressing - people pulling out these puff pieces about "Mourinho being an attacking manager" based on his Madrid team. Likewise you'd have optimistic fellows regurgitating stuff about Nuno, Conte, etc etc etc, being front foot attacking managers or whatever. These things can show anything you like, and are almost always a shade of BS. You can get some idea of what they're about but that's really it.

My problem is the faux anger nonsense this news has generated. Fans want him - loudly - purely because he's the one with biggest hype/name, they don't really know why they want him as Spurs manager or what makes him the best candidate, and so don't really know why they're angry tonight. It's just moan for the sake of it really. One of my friends - who I know watches basically no football beyond Spurs - is currently spamming our WhatsApp group about how useless Spurs/Levy et al are and how it's all shit. And it's similar sentiments all over the place it seems. If they had even a smidgen of knowledge I'd concede they have a point, but they don't.... So I won't.

You're right - I would be happy with Nagelsmann (as I would be with plenty of others) and said a combo of eg. him and Rangnick would probably be the most logical and comprehensive choice this summer given their close alignment. What I would say though is that for me the DOF guy is a much more important factor for me in this equation at this point, we need to get the overall direction of the club sorted above all else, and of the duo I was more interested in Rangnick if he was throwing his hat in the DOF ring. I also don't think JN is obviously the wunderkind he's made out to be that's far ahead of every other candidate, he's good in a lot of areas (which is a strength in itself) but no facet in his football is earth shatteringly great or leading the footballing charge. I think plenty of other coaches are in the same ballpark talent wise as JN.

But yeah, just too much noise based on no knowledge and having jumped on the hype bandwagon is my issue 🤷‍♂️

Has it ever occurred to you that fans want him because they’ve seen a lot of him and think he’s the most talented?

As an example, I lived in Munich for several years and Allianz was one of my biggest clients and hence I’ve watched a lot of him and his teams.

We have several German and Dutch posters and we have even more posters who watch German football a lot.

Your sneering, high-handed post about “you only want him because he’s a big name” is insulting and almost certainly not accurate.

It’s fine if you don’t want/like him but you should let those of us who did to discuss the current developments.

The club can say he's not in the running, or fucking just admit he's not suitable. But it's tremendously stupid to say the club has no intention to talk to Nagelsmann at all. Are we a fucking serial league winners or CL winners or what? So damn snobbish in the way we approach the footballing matters.

This club has always deny this and deny that. Fuck sake just have some balls and send out the messages clearly, be more transparent and don't let the own fans questioning and media mocking. So done with the club and the top management. Total incompetence.

And shit PR from our comms department yet again.

I feel we are back to 2005/06 in that we are back to competing for 7th-9th.

The resources of the rest of the Big 6 and their willingness/ability to spend will consistently make up the CL places.

Newcastle’s new resources is also likely to advance them ahead of us for the CL places.

Villa and Brighton have very good managers as does Brentford, so whoever comes in really is likely to be competing for Top 10.

Our chickens have likely come home to roost and we can no longer try to shortcut our way to success.

We just have to hope that eventually ENIC get bored and sell up (although the current 16,000% ROI doesn’t seem to motivate them to leave so what will?)

I don’t have the energy to care anymore tbh, especially when I see some of our fans making excuses for Levy and ENIC.

Instead, I’m merely keeping my season ticket to pass on to Hedgie Jnr and Hedgie III, hopefully they will have an owner deserving of their support because we certainly do not currently imo.
You're keeping it, when you're feeling as down trodden as the rest of us? You do realise the waiting list is an illusion right? Seems most that ditch their seat get offered another within 12 months if on a bronze membership. This is the last straw for me now, no chance I'm renewing.

Slot is about to win a totally shit league and ppl making out maybe he was to be chosen above Nagelsmann…. Wake the fuck up. What ever tip 6 team hire him…. None!!!!
I mean Newcastle beat us 6-1 and look destined for top 4 with a manager the vast majority of Spurs fans would've turned their noses up at 2 years ago. And most of us thought Arteta was a joke appointment for about 3 years too.

Not saying Slot is guaranteed to succeed, but we've all seen how chasing big names that are "worthy of elite clubs" has worked out for us in the past 3 years.

I would ask if you're new here but you've had an account for 11 years so I'd rather ask...

You new here?
No, as you well can see. Have reevaluated over the last couple of years and have learnt. Some choose not to.

I am 1000% ok with Slot as he also sounds like a good coach, overachieving with his squad..... that I stand to win over £1600 in bets if he's appointed is neither here nor there!!

Mason In! It’s destiny. The stars are aligning.

I just have a gut feeling about him. I can’t explain it. Had the same feeling with Poch

To Dare Is To Do!
We will be the laughing stock of the football press and opposition fans if he gets the job, there will be no money for players as he will have no gravitas with Levy and will be told what to do and who to sign, senior players will want to leave and our famously (and most would agree, understandably given the last few years) impatient fanbase will be on his back by October if we start the season poorly.

Mason needs to go and get experience as a manager at a Championship or a League 1 club and then he may be ready for the Spurs job. He's only just got his badges for gods sake. If he is appointed now I firmly believe he will be sacked by November I'm afraid. And I have no agenda against him I'm just saying what I think.

The difference with Newcastle and Arsenal is that their squads have been improved all round, not just a bit of money tickled at them like ours, for the resulting signings to them be injured most of the time so integration is impossible, and the managers haven't been megalomaniacs reluctant to commit their future to the club, tactically inflexible and unwilling to promote youth and new signings.

Delusion is more comforting than reality sometimes, especially as a Spurs fan.

I don't blame anyone but I've learnt to NEVER get my hopes up.

Absolutely love it. I’m dying on this hill! Let’s goooooooooooo!

When I’m right (😬) and the first Manager to lift a trophy with Spurs for years is one of our own. I’ll remember this moment and it will be absolutely glorious!

Well then we better hope I’m a better judge of character than you are 😂 otherwise we truly are fucked
