I'd like Lampard. Did a good job at Derby, did a fine job at Chelsea bringing their young players through. Only started struggling when the board gave him money to spend. Match made in heaven for Levy. Not even any compensation to pay.

Think Fonseca ball would’ve suited us really nicely , I doubt we’ll go for him whilst we still have Paratici given he pulled the plug on him so last minute but if no Paratici around next season then possibly we could go back. I’d probably prefer him to Poch just for a fresh start but we’d need to bring reggy back or sign a LB and for sure sign a top CB as this football would be higher risk with a higher line, would love to see it though. :)

Here are his tactics, would be very easy on the eye much closer to Pochball.

I was also quite looking forward to Fonseca taking over that summer. Watched a little documentary on his time at Shakhtar and he came across very well both as a person and a manager. I didn't get the impression he would've won us anything but he would've got us playing some really positive football and made watching Spurs fun again (for a while at least).

Thing is, that summer we were a less attractive proposition: weaker squad, only in Conference League, already openly rejected by about 7 managers. By that point Fonseca felt like a reasonable compromise in a bad situation. This summer I feel like we'll be in a better place and a new manager will have a lot more to work with squad-wise so we could attract someone with a higher ceiling than Fonseca.

Fun as he'd be, I'd only want him as a backup, compromise candidate if we can't get our top choices. We can aim higher, I think.

Sergio Conceicao anyone?
Not sure. I don't particularly love the way Porto play. For example, Benfica are much better right now.

I do know someone who played under him and said he was the best they'd played under up until that point. But they had played under Ranieri so???

He has more of an energetic attack minded approach but I think of he was anything special Porto would have dominated the Portuguese league in his time.

Instead they drift from good to ok.

Ali Gold said Fonseca was on Hitchen AND Paratici's lists.

Cant remember for sure but something like

Paratici list was something like Conte, Gattuso, Spaletti, Fonseca

Hitchen list was Poch, Ten Hag, Flick, Rangnick & Fonseca

Levy list

So you’re saying we should have kept Steve Hitchen?😂

At a time when the other managers of the Big 3 are Schmidt and Amorim, we'd be barmy to go for him.....

...Which means it'll happen doesn't it? :)

Apologies if posted already. Marcelo Gallardo was spotted at Heathrow Airport over the weekend

and then found the original photo here:

The person who took the photo is a River Plate fan who was going to Palace vs City from what I can work out

@Ossie85 posted this yesterday. It’s probable whoever posted it on twitter saw it on here first

She also went to the Spurs game and was supporting us.

Such a weird decision to jump from Fonseca to Gattuso and then to Nuno. I think Paratici has done really well for us, but not in that case.

has anyone linked us to Roger Schmidt at Benfinca yet? Seems a pretty good shout - his coaching/play style seems progressive and he’s doing well at Benfica. Admittedly I don’t know a ton about his current situation there.

Yeah I'm obviously joking, but fair play to the guy, he's working miracles with Reims. They're having to fork out 25k every game he manages because he isn't fully qualified yet so he's clearly well thought of.

Someone will take a punt on him yes and like you say, maybe it will be someone like West Ham who need help getting out of the Championship.
That whole scenario is dozy imo.

UEFA: You aren't qualified you need a bit of fancy paper!!
Still: Um, I'm unbeaten in like 17 games - you sure? Seems pretty qualified to me.

Making football management like it's as important as a doctor or something, crazy, surely it;s up to the club to decide if the guy is up to it or not?

i do worry that paratici isn’t the best person to choose the next coach. Gatusso is a huge red flag, not just for the off pitch stuff but also the style and quality. Anyone know what his appointments at juve were?

He had to choose some Mendes desciple so it's not like he had too many good choices, and club just sacked the best Mendes client. That one is on ENIC. It's hard to say about Juve since Marotta and Agnelli were heavily involved with everything, so we can't know who was in charge of any decision or if they were all equally in agreement.

If true, why were we so beholden to Mendes and what has changed since?

I don't think the candidates Paratici sought out were as leftfield as some people make out. He looked to the Italian league, which is hardly a shock given his background. Finally, he settled on Nuno, who was a continuity option given the style of football we played under Mourinho.
