We are 9th in the Deloitte football club rich list in both income and club value, and the fact that we have managed to bring in Conte and Mourinho reflect that. Whatever they did here they have still been Elite managers that you'd expect to see at one of the richest clubs. Of course you'd expect us to be behind those above us in those lists because those above us win trophies regularly as well. We have also paid those managers extremely well easily matching or surpassing most of those clubs above us. We have arguably the best stadium in the world, and also the best training ground. Other than the playing staff we operate every bit like the biggest clubs in the world, and it's bizarre how we are so far off as far as the football side of things are concerned. We should be on their priority list, maybe not in the same bracket as those above us but then perhaps we shouldn't be looking to compete with those clubs for managers.

It's simple for me, straight up offer it to Naglesmann(if that's who they want) and if he says he needs to wait until the Summer to think about it, move the fuck on. If he says yes but I want to wait until the Summer to get a fresh start that is different, and I'd get the contracts drawn straight up. Fact is though If Naglesmann is the preferred choice then whoever is next on the list should be of a similar style and Philosophy, and not someone with a totally different ideology of the game, that needs a completely different squad of players. That's what we've done for far too long now and it's why we've ended up with a plethora of players no manager wants to use.

Fact is with all that said I doubt very much that's what we will do. We'll go for Naglesmann and if he doesn't come it'll just be the next biggest name out there, regardless of how they want the game to be played.
This…..absolutely this. I think the thing that is holding us back is a massive lack of identity and an understanding of who/what we want to be.
I believe that the powers that be need to make a decision as to what we are as a club and pick a manager accordingly.

The flip flopping between styles and ‘winning’ managers is tiresome.

Might as well call it a day then as nobody is beating the door down to buy us.
I don’t like it as much as anyone else, but you don’t fix underlining problems just with endless new managers. I didn’t particularly like Contes football much, but the problems at Spurs run so deep and far higher up the chain than manager.

May have been pinned already; but for ONCE Jamie Redknapp has cut n pasted a good article via sky site - cant share via phone. Intimating that club aren’t built for winning. Actually a very easy article to write … anybody on here could’ve cobbled it together; but saying what a lot of us know

As usual, people are re-editing history to suit their doom and gloom mood. The plan was not to appoint Nuno. The plan was not to appoint Gattuso. The plan, as @Trix suggested, was to appoint a “progressive” coach who would play attacking football. But everyone is conveniently forgetting that we were about a day away from appointing Paolo Fonseca, a coach with an open, attacking style, until something enigmatic happened and we walked away. By that stage, there was no time left and a bum needed to be put on the seat, so we appointed Nuno.

It’s conspicuous that everyone keeps editing out that sequence, in favour of ranting on about Gattuso and Nuno.

It’s a fact though fill your boots with manager discussions, whoever it is will probably be fired in a years time.
How much you wanna bet? Loser donates to SC trust fund?

I’ll take the bet that the next permanent manager lasts longer then a year from the first day of appointment.

Let’s see if you’ve got the minerals.

I'm not sure Paratici and Nagelsmann will be a good fit. I think Paratici has done well but he doesn't really build towards a particular system or style of football. Hopefully we can make the most of the young signings he made and get a new director with an attacking philosophy who is on the same page as the manager.

Agreed. Has made a few very good signings. But perhaps more a wheeler dealer than a football strategist.

So they like him but are staying with their manager. Where's the story?

Plus with all the infrastructure and money coming in we should absolutely be able to rival the chavs. Were a far more stable prospect.
So if United were to fire Ten Hag (who has been in the job longer than Potter) Nagelsmann would probably be on their list.

If Pep walked away from City this summer, Nagelsmann is probably on their list.

If Klopp quit Liverpool this season, he'd probably be high on their list too.

No but if the season is a write off surely you get the manager in now and let them assess the squad so you can start making plans for next season.

He joins now, we finish 8Th. Managers stock sinks and all of a sudden your Ronald Koeman.

that’s why.

This 1000 times over Trix……I don’t get how we can be acting as a champions league club in one aspect and Hounslow and district…Div 3…..in the one that matters…the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results….

And if he comes in once the season ends that can still happen next season. No guarantees on anything. What we need to do is start planning and preparing for next season and without knowing who the manager is we will be 2 or 3 months behind teams who have a manager as they will already know who is being shipped out and who they want to bring in.

Next season he’d have at least had a chance to assess players in pre season, not to mention the opportunity to explore the transfer window.

Surely assessing them now is more beneficial and will give him more time to determine the needs of the squad? He will see more in the next 10 games in terms of mentality and ability than he would in preseason as its actually competitive.

He can explore the transfer market now. Doesnt have to wait until the summer.
