Back having a tizzy about a leadership committe again are we? No thanks, call me when we're having a pop about interviewing managers again instead.

...give me strength :banghead:

Surely it’s more the fact that the club management are making decisions impacting on the team despite having no DOF or manager. This on top of the Dier news is not exactly conducive with a new manager and a fresh start.
I would've thought that it's more the senior players who decide on who's included, rather than Levy.
The idea of a leadership committee is that it provides a voice to management for the players, surely that's somewhat diluted if the management decide who's on it?

Hopefully not alone in saying this, but having had a busy week at work and coming onto SC to hear about manager news, there’s literally 50 pages of content a day in this thread. It’s gotten to the point where this thread is nigh unreadable and nearly impossible to follow.

Woukd it be possible to create a read-only thread for manager/DOF news, similar to the transfer ticker we have in the summer?

I am sure there’s widespread interest in documenting the sourced content and news around this. Because right now this thread is basically useless for following actual news.

Do what I do - flick down the page and only pay attention to posts with lots of ratings on them/a blue background. Its really simple and saves having to read 5 pages of the same blokes arguing back and forth or 20 people saying the exact same thing but acting like its a brand new view point.

Alternatively you could follow the ITK's and just see what they have said without wading through 50 pages. Just some ideas that may help.

Let's not get too carried away by the Skipp news, he's just part of the "leadership committee" because he'll represent the next generation, a voice for the youth players.
He's a very mature and clever lad so I don't mind him having a voice in the dressing room.
The other point is you need players who speak up and put everything out there.

Its not just about quality

And the idea of a new start is just that.

You're looking to appoint a new leader and you should be letting him lead.

It's not unreasonable, kneejerk, negative or throwing a tantrum to suggest that no decisions should be made regarding the first team beyond the lineup and tactics for the last two games until a new manager is chosen and has the time to access all his options.

To address the players have a say and this is about them ... First of all unless I imagined it this forum has been moaning about these players seeing off and letting down manager after manager and how so many aren't good enough but we're now letting make decisions about whose important just before a new manager is decided?

Ok cool , well what if said new manager thinks Skipp is shit ( I don't) , what if he think ls he doesn't fit his style of play?what if he like so many on here thinks Dier isnt good enough? What if he doesn't rate Holjberg? What if he wants to sell the whole committee except Harry? Does he get told no? Does he lose the dressing room?

I like Oliver Skipp and I'm sure he is a nice bloke but my opinion doesn't matter, the new managers does

Paul o’keefe clearly gets info, based on things he’s shared in the past. People aren’t stopped from posting his stuff in the thread so it’s allowed I’m assuming, so why do people feel the need to mock and belittle his posts?

Surely it’s either allowed and people stop sniping and take it with a pinch of salt like you should every ‘ITK’, or make the decision that the site doesn’t view him that way, and don’t allow his stuff to be posted? I don’t see why people have to slag the guys stuff off. It’s as beneficial for discussion as a lot of other stuff that gets shared. 🤷🏻‍♂️
He doesn't post here, he also slates the itks here! He also passes off his info as if he's some kind of insider, when he's really just some bloke who's part of a WhatsApp group! No doubt all the POK fam boys will neg rep this post like they did when I say he's a tap in merchant. His info isn't his own, that's why people take issue with him. Doesn't mean the info itself might be correct, but as Herc said, he's behind the curve!

50+ days now so new manager is overdue. While it will be great to see it eventually done, let's not get too excited yet, we need a DOF asap as well and guarantees the overlord bald one will keep his fingers out of the pie or we will find ourselves here again.
Would have preferred DeZerbi, but if Slot is the man then bring it on asap as there is plenty to be done.

This just reads as if you don't understand the point of such a committee or what it actually is.

Evening everyone, my phone broke a few days back so not been able to access anything on here. Have I missed anything over the past 150 pages? I don't mind a catch up now and again but not 150 pages 😄.

From my end, my guy has told me things are moving with Slot but that's not anything groundbreaking since my last update a few days back.

Any help is appreciated cheers.

I think it's as simple as back in the day, the captain used to be the communication link between the players and the manager, nowadays it's more of a group effort, hence the "committee".

It doesn't mean that they are all powerful, or that some of them can't/won't be sold if need be, it just means that the most expensive and valuable assets that the club have are able to voice their concerns and opinions.

These days, players have much more power than they used to, so it's only reasonable that they should be able to have a voice.
This doesn't mean that the manager or Levy have to do whatever they say, it means that they're treated as valued employees.

We’ve heard from various sources that we are in talks with Slot and things seem to be generally positive.

trix and goat posted this 🤞 emoji. Trix and herc separately confirmed that talks are progressing with Slot but usual caution given Levy is involved. That's about it really

I mean firstly, it shouldn’t matter if he pots here or not. To be honest looking at the reaction to his posts from some, if I was some I wouldn’t bother posting here either.

Second we’ve heard all the whatsapp stuff before, who cares if he’s in seven different whatsapp chats, ‘our’ ITK, share stuff ‘back of house’ as they like to say, I’m not particularly fussed where the persons info is from, I’m more concerned if it’s reliable, and a lot of his has been.

All I’m saying is apply fairness consistently, a few pages back, we get info from prof who is known to be reliable saying we’re working on it and making progress but there are hurdles… one page later, Herc says we’re making progress but there’s still potential issues.. so is herc a tap in merchant too?

They’ve both been correct about stuff in the past, and no ITK is 100% because of the nature of it.

I just personally think it looks shitty that we apply rules on our itk, but it’s free rein to say what you want about anyone else. Surely people are ITK or not? All I’m saying is apply the rules fairly, either people are reliable, or, if they aren’t viewed as being then don’t allow their stuff to be added to the thread.

I just don’t see the need for the slagging off of people who are clearly sharing info in good faith.

i haven’t suggested a manager should have a say in who is included (the reports do state that it is the club hierarchy who have added him to the group though). It’s more that there are two games left, there is no business for a players committee to be consulted on (their biggest role is usually having input on the team bonus pool agreed at the beginning of the season) so why add a player who a new manager might not want.
And if it’s fellow players who have added him then one seems almost certain to be gone and again, the manager would be best getting rid of one other.

I think the Xabi Alonso news coming out today right as the Slot story picked up is key to all of this. I wonder if one of the two things has happened:
  1. The board/Levy was split on who to chose between him and Slot, and when they heard he wanted to stay it only leaves Slot so they've moved quickly on him
  2. We've chosen Slot outright and it's freed Alonso up to recommit to Bayer and look loyal.

Of all the things about this club to be frustrated about - this really should not be on the list.

Skippys a good lad, proper Spurs, and every manager we have had since Poch has talked of him being a future captain.
Again, I haven’t said he shouldn’t be on a committee. I’m saying the timing is unnecessary when there’s two games to go and nothing a players committee needs to be doing.

We need a bit more info if we are going to be able to help you. What make of phone is it and what part is broken.
