Pinch of salt and all that, but my old man, who is a taxi driver, picked up someone who is part of a company bidding to tear down WHL.

Apparently at the end of this season they are planning on demolishing the north stand and erecting a temporary stand, with the rest of the ground being demolished at the end of the following season.

Why would they demolish the south stand? Surely being the furthest away from the new ground it would be the last thing knocked down

plus if they put up a temporary north stand they still can't do anything where it is, I suppose it would be quicker to remove than the existing one which might save a few weeks eventually but it seems unlikely.
I sometimes wonder if because we know more about the stadium than Joe public, when they hear about the early plan to knock down the Paxton and play in a three quarter stadium we think its something new, I wonder if the cabbie overheard one of those guys.
Can't understand it otherwise.

Nah, it was certainly someone who is fairly high up in one of the companies bidding to knock down WHL that my dad picked up. He was telling my dad about some of the meetings he has had with Levy (who, perhaps not surprisingly, is very hands on with this project) and how they will have a time frame of 11 weeks to knock down one of the stands and erect a temporary stand. Also said how the value of the scrap metal in the stadium has dropped something like 80% in the last year.

They could do a lot of foundation work, and erect the temp stand on that? Doesn't sound likely, though.

Spurs to find out stadium fate in mid-January

Tottenham will have to wait until mid-January before they get the green light to begin work on the £400m redevelopment of White Hart Lane to make it into a 61,100-seater stadium.

Haringey Council gave its approval last week, but the club must have the plans rubber-stamped by London mayor Boris Johnson, who is set to make his assessment next month. The mayor is in favour of the construction.

Work will begin in Spring 2016 once the club receives full permission.

Tottenham intend to play away from their home ground for the 2017-18 season "to enable a faster construction of the new stadium" before opening it in time for the 2018-19 campaign.

This is what's in your original post so, unless you've changed it, where did the south stand bit come from??

As i struggle to see wood for the trees at the best of times & being a Spurs fan i know we're going to dig up Julius Caesars bathtub and the remains of Shergar at some point in this build, how long until the ceiling goes on the basement and it becomes a lot easier for wallies to make head and tail of what they're looking at?
I'm assuming they've now finished the digging downwards part of things.

And two regarding the retractable pitch, will it only be stored under the stands a handful of times a season or is the idea that it'll get parked away after every game?

Still reckon we're nuts for not putting a retractable roof on the thing (unless we're truly left with no wriggle room/good standing with the natives for hosting more than X number of events per year) but hey i'll settle for seeing it built in my lifetime at this point. :wideyed:

Only a couple of weeks to wait then. He'd be crazy not to sign it off but until it's done, fingers crossed.
