This thread hitting 2000. When the test events do happen we are going to get a lot of photos etc... especially the stands we haven't seen.

Tbh I’ve pretty much seen everything I need or want to see now. The thing I’m most interested about now is the atmosphere with 62k inside. I’ve a feeling it will be epic.

Sun saying opening game will be Crystal Palace in mid-March.

Obviously take the Sun news with a pinch of salt, but if true then I think it’s completely pointless. What for 3 Games? We might aswell play the rest of season at Wembkey and start fresh next season in our new stadium with a big opening ceremony. If we’re all going to be honest, as exciting as it will be, it’s been a complete farce this stadium issue. They should of said from the get go 2 seasons at Wembley.

I think I'd choose to open in March - in fact it could be a good time in a sporting sense. The most likely scenario with the new ground is that while we'll end up doing better there than we have at Wembley, there will be a short-term decline in our home form as we get used to the place. It's very, very rare to hit the ground running in this situation as the familiarity is a big part of home advantage. By mid-March, there may well be little left to play for in the league especially - even now we're already looking at only around a 2% chance of the title, yet also only around a 12% chance of missing the Top 4. If we can familiarise ourselves with it for a few games in a relatively low-pressure scenario, that's much better than doing it at the start of next season where we might end up ruling ourselves out of a title race for another year if we drop points early on at home.

It doesn't say that. It's complete shithousery from them as usual. In the actual article it says:

'A well-placed source says the target is to stage the first game at the new stadium as soon as next month.'

A source said: “Inside much of it is ready and what isn’t can be completed between games.

“The aim, as I understand it, is either Newcastle or Leicester at home in February.”

They literally contradict themselves in the article. But they know the headline will get them clicks and people will be triggered. The absolute pits.

I wasn't aware of that. I thought as long as it's a restricted capacity the event can vary. They'll certainly need an application process and we charged a quid for the familiarisation event. I'm sure they will get plenty of interest regardless of how soon the events are though so maybe they can fit a 2nd event in before the FA Cup.

The familiarisation event wasn't a sporting event, it was people looking around a stadium without any sport taking place. For an actual match the club must have an Entertainment Licence and they won't get that until they have passed the testing proceedures, including the Test Events.

EDIT: I see from a post subsequent to yours above, that someone was allowed to charge for an U21 match as a test event. There is a big difference between an U21 game and a Premiership game with 62,000 people. Now, it may be that once the first test event takes place with x number of attendees, and it passes, that the Local Authority have the power to allow charges for games up to that number. But I'm fairly positive that they won't allow charges for test events where the numbers exceed that.

That's a fkn joke if true. How we possibly could have set out Liverpool as the first game only to end up opening in bloody March is just a next level fuck up.
Whatever it is, it’s not the fault whatsoever, of Tottenham Hotspur. Why do people get so upset and angry about this, it’s not as though it’s your home being built and you want to move your family in.

To find the answer to your question I suggest you look back over the last one hundred pages of this thread.

I think all the media sources got together and did a sweepstake. One of them has to win. But even the office idiot can win a sweepstake.

I spent my winnings on spurs tickets.

Maybe because we paid for something that we haven't got. People have a right to be annoyed

I’d try not to get annoyed at anything you read in a comic like the Sun. if they printed a front page saying the sky was blue I’d go outside and check.

Joke of a newspaper.
