Can't seem to find anything about it anywhere else. Somebody heard about it or should we assume that it's a hoax given that no test events have been held yet?
Wasn't that just someone not realising that all the games say at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium until they change them to Wembley?

Fed up with all these guesses about what the date of first match is going to be , why not just wait for an Official Announcement (and hope that it's correct this time).
At the risk of incurring your wrath, I would have thought Levy would be desperate to get us in for the Dortmund game, so it's surely going to be one of the Newcastle or Leicester games, providing the fire systems are working ok.

My money is on Newcastle, and I think we hear as such by Tuesday of next week.

Id be happy with a gimme as well to be honest.
We're Tottenham. We don't do gimmes. And the moment we forget that is the moment we go from the verge of a title race to losing 3-1 at home to the Wolverhampton Wonderers without making even so much as a shot for 45 minutes.

So a test event on 18th a week after the safety tests are done. Sounds like they're confident the tests will pass next week but obviously wont announce until it's certain. As long as they announce it next week after the tests it gives fans a week notice which is fine for a test event. I'm thinking they'll wait until they find out when the FA Cup 4th round tie is before deciding when to do the 2nd test event. I reckon they'll do that around the weekend of 25th/26th whichever day we're not playing on. Unless a home game in the cup could be a test event, especially if it's a small opponent.

I still fancy them to announce the first game as well if the tests pass next week. Maybe they will open for Watford afterall, but the Newcastle game seems to be a better fit being a Saturday. If they announce both test events and first game by the end of next week it would give a 2.5-3 weeks notice for the opener which should be fine.

Arsenal did 3 ramp-up events within 5 days - 18th July: 2006 shareholders event, 20th July: players training event and finally the Bergkamp testimonial on the 22nd. (A Saturday).

Once we get the OK on the alarm systems, I'd expect both the test events to be announced together and them to be days apart.
I don't see why the last and full blooded test couldn't be a weekday evening game, like Friday 18th but I am suspicious why only one test date has supposedly leaked.

Where have you got the date of the 18th from, is that a strong rumour.

Can I ask why you assume that this is the first test event? It could well be the second.

Only a thought - but if this came from someone involved directly in that particular date ie. an ex player for the legends match perhaps then they may not be party to info about the other date - either beforehand or afterwards. Not of course saying it is.

The only issue there is that they can't charge an entry fee for a test event. That's why they are events where people are invited.

Just assuming that because of timing. They can't host a test event until the final tests are completed next week so doesn't leave much notice to do one before the 18th. I would also question how our goat would hear of a 2nd test event date but not the 1st. I fancy it's because they're still deciding the date for the 2nd.

They can charge for a test event. I went to one at Wembley which was £10 I think. Was U21 Vs Italy.

There is an U23 game Vs Bilbao on 23rd that could probably be moved for the 2nd test event.

If they do it has to go to charity. That was the plan for the test events we were going to hold in August which had to be cancelled - £5/£10 which goes to the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. (Good chance to raise some money while still having cheap tickets, plus if you don't charge you're more likely to get people booking but not turning up).

I wasn't aware of that. I thought as long as it's a restricted capacity the event can vary. They'll certainly need an application process and we charged a quid for the familiarisation event. I'm sure they will get plenty of interest regardless of how soon the events are though so maybe they can fit a 2nd event in before the FA Cup.

That could work, 23rd doesn't even need to be moved
