I think the expectation is a bit too high in some supporters already for this season anyway.
Personally I can't see Jose coming in on a restricted budget basis so I predict we will buy in January, probably the Portuguese guy we were linked with last summer and at least one other and the who's staying and who's going situation will be sorted then too.
Next season I will allow myself to believe a trophy is possible.
Portuguese guy - being Bruno Fernandes? that would be ideal! but id like to see the back line given some attention

Want; Attractive, exciting winning football.

Hope; To win trophies.

Expect; Spurs to be the only club he manages to be trophyless under his tenure. (Spursy:shifty:)

im not fussed about sexy football anymore - I just want a winning formula that brings trophies. your right though that would be the typical ''spursy'' thing to happen - lets all pray that doesn't happen!

I think he will deliver a domestic cup or two and possibly a Europa if we are in there. But I don't see him stopping the Liverpool-Man City powerplay at the top for a league title. He will probably get more backing than any Spurs manager previously but you have to judge ourselves by those two clubs if we want to overhaul them. We will improve our squad but those two clubs won't stand still. And they already set a standard miles above everyone else last season. The City team may have peaked with their back to back titles so will spend big money again to refresh while Liverpool look like they are getting better and better. I will be pleasantly surprised if Mourinho is here long enough to overtake them because his shelf life at clubs is short.
Liverpool arent playing as well this season as last so I think 'getting better and better' is stretching a bit. They've been shit lucky as well. Man city don't look as good either.
Love to see Liverpool bottle it again. It would be pure Gold.

I highly doubt Zlatan is on his shopping list. If he is, it's worrying, but very much doubt it.

This is my fear.
I am looking forward to us playing under a manager who actually tries to win the fkin things instead of publicly dissing them.
Poch was an arse for that. Even if he thinks it he should have kept his mouth shut. That made me more angry than anything that ever fell out of Redknapps mouth, including jam rollypolly.

A win tomorrow will put us 6th/joint 5th temporarily and with Chelsea at City it's a great opportunity to start to look up and have a target.

I'm fairly confident we can catch one of Leicester or Chelsea and I imagine it excites Jose. Something that he's confident/arrogant enough to think is a certainty.

I reckon if we do indeed reduce the gap, he'll be starting the mind games on Rodgers and Lampard.

Btw that's actually the first time I've really looked at the table today.

What I expect is a stale squad to be invigorated in the short term, and for us to tighten up defensively. We do have the 3rd best squad in the league. If Dele, Kane, Son, etc. all start firing again and we stop conceding goals, then I expect a serious charge up the table. You only have to see how the body language is working with Mourinho impersonating the alpha male gorilla, strutting round casually and being very touchy with the younger males he wants onside quickly. Son and Dele look like giggling teenagers who are embarrassed but loving the attention. Kane looks wary but open. Even the poker faced and normally dour Dier is struggling to hide is excitement at being touched up by Jose. I have no doubt that those 4 will be the first names on his team sheet. I can see him playing a hybrid 4-3-3 with Dier as DCM in front of a back 4 that is solid and not too adventurous, with two strong athletes either side of Dier to dominate central midfield (probably Sissoko and Ndombele) and Son, Dele and Kane providing the goals. If that team is set up correctly we will not concede many and we will score goals.

Long term is more interesting, mainly to see how Levy and Mourinho will collaborate to rebuild the squad next summer. I still expect Toby, Jan, Rose and Eriksen to leave. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mourinho freeze some of them out quite quickly too as he wants a small tight squad who are all 100% committed to the cause. Rose and Eriksen in particular I can see not being involved very quickly. However, next summer's window ... will Jose be happy with the way Levy operates - as he is not changing any time soon! Mourinho will need to re-build the back 4. We need a new LB, at least one new CB, probably a new keeper, possibly a new RB.

Why aren't we winning anything this year? We reached a final and a semi last season, it isn't against the realms of possibility that Jose may get us over the line in one of the comps this season.
Yep. No doubts JM has earmarked the Champions League for that ?.

who knows! i mean it is jose - anythings possible...im so anxious to get the first few wins out of the way now - what I will say for jose is that because of his reputation he will immediately command respect - so hopefully that will raise everyone's game in order to impress him, that can only be a good thing

yeah perhaps your right - I do get an odd sense that jose is actually happy thus far - I wouldn't be opposed to experience, perhaps bringing bale back, id be all for that scenario - but maybe I am overthinking. levy wouldn't be so silly to spend on players he cant profit off of later down the line with regards to a sale - that im sure of so im sure its all just paper talk
I think that it's possible that he might sanction one or two (for example, bear in mind that even at 38, Zlatan would probably recoup a decent amount on shirt sales).

I was thinking this actually after id typed it - whether shirt sales would be a factor - u make a good point there

If he is happy to sit on the bench like Llorente was last year then he could be a good short contract tactical signing and provide a plan B option from the bench. But his ego is simply not conducive to such a role so I would be very surprised.

1) To instil a winning mentality at the club and win a trophy.

2) to play and develop our young players such as kwp, skipp, parrott and tanganga.

3) to attract our 1st choice transfer targets

4) to improve our existing players especially the likes of Alli, Dier, Winks, etc.

If this is the plan, which i sincerely hope it's not, we're fucked... So let's just hope this isn't the plan.

It's great to see the energy around the club again. It feels like a fog has lifted a bit. It's sad how it ended with Poch but if we do go on to win some trophies then he has to take some credit for laying the groundwork.
