We’re not winning anything this season and I don’t expect us to.

I want a cup next year, though. I don’t care if it’s the league cup or whatever just something.

The league could be interesting next season. I’ll be surprised if Pep is still managing City but then again I thought he was going to leave by now and he hasn’t. I don’t really expect us to be challenging for the league next season but we should be getting top 4.

After next season it’ll probably all go to shit but that’ll be alright if we win a trophy or 2.

Why aren't we winning anything this year? We reached a final and a semi last season, it isn't against the realms of possibility that Jose may get us over the line in one of the comps this season.

It’s not beyond the realms of possibility obviously just don’t think we will. Main priority in the short term is sorting out our league form.

I’m confident we’ll get into the last 16 of the CL and maybe we’ll get to a qtr but I doubt it. FA cup is our best shout but again I don’t expect us to win it and that’s purely down to the fact we’ve been playing shit football for the last year and I can’t expect a new manager to turn that around mid season. Next year is different, though.

Want = trophy or 5

Hope = 1 of those trophies being the premier league and 1 being champions league

Expect = League Cup and top 4 spot next year

I think he will deliver a domestic cup or two and possibly a Europa if we are in there. But I don't see him stopping the Liverpool-Man City powerplay at the top for a league title. He will probably get more backing than any Spurs manager previously but you have to judge ourselves by those two clubs if we want to overhaul them. We will improve our squad but those two clubs won't stand still. And they already set a standard miles above everyone else last season. The City team may have peaked with their back to back titles so will spend big money again to refresh while Liverpool look like they are getting better and better. I will be pleasantly surprised if Mourinho is here long enough to overtake them because his shelf life at clubs is short.

First is stabilise the season. It's a bit like when Redknapp took over. The only way we can go is up.

My biggest worry is Jose likes to ostracise certain players. Robben, Pogba, Salah, De Bruyne and Mata spring to mind. I hope he don't do it with someone like Sonny or Kane.

Next season will be the big one. I'm not expecting an awful lot this season. Maybe top 6 would be nice

Want - to be ruthless and streetwise
Hope - to use the above qualities to get results against the top 4
Expect - to lose to Norwich

My minimum expectation is for him to make new WHL somewhere other teams are fearful to come to.
Rack up 80 good wins to help this new stadium get some solid foundations.

Well first off I’ve never been a fan but he’s one of ours now so I’m behind him 100%.
I have some Inter fans and their reaction to the news was “you’ll love him?”.
I am actually more optimistic about his tenure than many on here. At Porto, his first stint at Chelsea and Inter the players would have walked through hell and high water for him. The bullshit he comes out with is part ego but a big part to distract any pressure off the players and on to him. Our squad know how good they are and with a proven winner leading them they are going to believe they can achieve anything and that’s half the battle.
I think the last 11 months he’s been out of the game he has(as he said in the press conference)been analyzing his past performances- why he succeeded and why he failed. On top of that he has been watching and analyzing games and teams. I think(hope) he has come out of that with a reinvigorated attitude with a new tactical approach. I think he was hoping for a while to get the Spurs job as he sees us as the ideal team to manage. I think also he believes Pep’s time is nearly up at City and Klopp won’t be far behind him so soon there won’t be much serious completion in the PL.
Given also his age I believe he’s hoping to make this job a legacy job so I’m going to be the optimist and say he’s learnt from his mistakes so he’s going to keep his cool and be with us for long and successful trophy laden years.
Saturday is Day 1 of the New Spurs Revival.

Agree. I think I'm in the minority who thinks Son, Moura, Lamela, Lo Celso etc have nothing to worry about as they put a shift in off the ball.

The players who should be worried are the players who threw Poch under the bus with zero effort in games recently.

I hope we see no silly signings like Zlatan Iba wotsit. That would really put Kane’s nose out of joint.

i expect us to start playing counter attacking football - utilising son/dele/lucas etc on the break. I do not expect us to be dominating games with possession as much but playing without the ball more intelligently, defending as a unit and becoming more defensively sound. we are good enough in attack to create and score especially now with ndombele proving to be great in transition and with his balls in behind defences. but id imagine defending will become a key focus from front to back with the primary focus on keeping clean sheets. Europa league is our best bet but if jose can get the lads confident then we may push higher - although this is a very big if! we might do something fa cup wise but I do not expect trophies this year at all. I think that will come next year once a style is established

I smell another thread coming on:

"Mourinho - I hope that he doesn't sign Zlatan"

I would not read the ‘papers’ today then!
I know I saw a few things i wish I hadn't seen via twitter yesterday - praying to god we just sort our defence and leave the ''has beens'' alone - unfortunately now we have jose rumours will be everywhere about everything and anyone - sorting through what's rubbish and whats legit is going to be hard work!

Not worth worrying about - it's possible that Jose will want to bring in one or two more experienced players in. If he decides to try and get Zlatan in, it's his shout (assuming that it's sanctioned by DL) but it's quite possible that it's the newspapers making assumptions based on their history together.

I think the expectation is a bit too high in some supporters already for this season anyway.
Personally I can't see Jose coming in on a restricted budget basis so I predict we will buy in January, probably the Portuguese guy we were linked with last summer and at least one other and the who's staying and who's going situation will be sorted then too.
Next season I will allow myself to believe a trophy is possible.

yeah perhaps your right - I do get an odd sense that jose is actually happy thus far - I wouldn't be opposed to experience, perhaps bringing bale back, id be all for that scenario - but maybe I am overthinking. levy wouldn't be so silly to spend on players he cant profit off of later down the line with regards to a sale - that im sure of so im sure its all just paper talk
