I read in today's Sun that Levy was trying to screw Soton last summer by only offering £10m for Schneiderlin. This, according to the Sun, has fucked Morgan right off and he now wants to sign for Arsenal.
I don't see anything wrong with that bid and I said so at the time. 1 cap at the age of 25 at the time DM for mid table side virtually unknown to most football fans.

It was just never going to be accepted by Southampton in a window where they were getting outrageous amounts of money for their other players and no longer in need of selling

Might have been a reasonable bid logically by the criteria you mention but it is far from realistic in terms of what they were ever going to accept at the time in my opinion and therefore a waste of time if true

Liverpool and Wenger fucked this transfer. Soton got crazy amounts for their players and I would like to see how much they will be sold for this summer. ;)

Still yet to be impressed by MS. All the hype etc. I watched closely when we played the saints earlier in the season and our reject Capoue had him for spare change. That speaks volumes for me

I was caught up in the hype, but like you when I've seen him this season (against us and pool) he hasn't looked like a 20million pound player.
I haven't watched him enough though and all their fans seem to think he's the one. Fans know their players best and if they think he's daddy in a pretty decent squad he must have something about him.

If that was the bid I think it it was a bit low but I wouldn't be happy paying much more than 15, he's decent but like most of Southampton's players they got well over hyped last year. What I don't get is why he'd be so pissed off with us because of what we were willing to pay at the time that he'd only consider Arsenal now. Unless he's got a massive ego that he seems himself as a £30 million player and it offended him that we didn't.

It would be Bentaleb. I wonder if his excellent form might put a move for MS on the backburner?

MS could play with either in the double pivot. He's just as adept at linking the play between midfield and attack as he is at working off the ball. He has more of an all round midfield game not an out and out defensive midfielder (a Mikel type etc) - although he's very good defensive instincts in that respect, obviously.

Cant see us getting players like this and Bony/Benteke in January and i dont blame Levy for not moving for them in January.

We have Soldado, Adebayor, Paulinho, Capoue and Dembele in their positions and on big to massive contracts and they barely contribute. We desperately need to shift some of those before we bring in so expensive players, and sadly i cant see many takers for any of those in January.
Maybe someone come in for Dembele and a loan move for Paulinho, but even that isnt exactly a sure thing:/

Would be very pleased with Morgan and a new forward, but wouldnt be very suprised if we save those for the summer.

I still dont get it. Why on earth would Soton sell Schneiderlin, especially for us? He's not coming. It's like selling Eriksen to Liverpool.

If he arrives in January I'll donate £100. And that's a lot of money given my January tax bill.

Not long ago, newcastle fans wouldn't swap ben arfa against Bale. Fans can be blind to

This. Had Levy given in to Southampton's demands, we would be the ones to be screwed. The problem here is that Schneiderlin is vital to Southampton. To them, he is a £30m player, especially considering the fact that they're loaded from the summer. I don't think it's possible for us to agree a fee for Schneiderlin that represents value for money.

Take it that means it was true?

Ish..... We offered a lot more that(on deadline day), but nowhere near what they wanted. The Arsenal bit is the bit that unfortunately I agree with, and that is where I hear he will end up in January. From what I'm told we are not even interested in trying to compete with them at the prices being talked about. Thanks to Ade reverting back to type and others blindly playing following the leader, incoming priorities have changed massively.

I think it's a question of what is more important a top drawer CF or CM, because both won't happen for sure. Considering our other options available in those positions, a striker is seen as a must now that we only have two to call on.

I don't think he'll go in Jan. Next summer looks much more likely. It just had to be Arsenal :(

Honestly not bothered if he ends up with les Arse. We need a playmaker, not another sitter, and especially not for what we'd have to pay.

Personally, I hope Ade joins Bennie and has a nice lttle party, somewhere else, far away from our squad until he's milked us dry and finished his contract and is free to erm, go away. A top drawer CF is definitely the priority for us right now imo.

If he arrives at all, I donate my life. Oh wait, I already did that. So, I donate my next life. Have fun with the stupid cockroach. Karma.
