No thanks, not for me.

Dembele, Sandro and Parker have it covered.

Out of all the players linked (bar Holtby) this is the one I can see happening.

I cannot for the life of me see a forward being signed this window.

Would love to wake up one morning and find out that we've signed a Soldado or a Damaio. Just isn't going to happen this window IMO.

Yes please. £3.5m is a steal. Better than Hudd and Livermore and we're bereft of any good backup central midfielders* now that Sandro's injured.

*I'd like Tommy Carroll to be involved but I don't see it happening.

Also, dicking West Ham and taking their best player (again) for a bargain would be lovely.

Would be a pointless signing.

Far from pointless for me if Parker or Dembele got injured - which wouldn;t surprise me at all.

Where's the risk? Hell we could sell him on for a profit in the summer if needed be. Even from the point of view of just an investment its worth it, not to mention he could be a valuable squad member with all the games we've got coming up.

What's in it for these clubs putting these tiny release clauses for their players?

I think we have enough 'power/athletic' players personally. I want to see someone with a bit more style.

If we need cover for Sandro then just loan someone in for the rest of the season. Or, if we can't find anyone, I'd rather we just gave the likes of Carroll, Luongo and Parrett some chances and aided their long term development.

Let's ask Newcastle to swap Sissoko with Parker, and we can pay an extra fee as well.

That's not going to happen though, but fair enough if that's your preference. Not sure we would get a decent enough loan option either.

Holtby is the more 'style' signing for this window anyway.

I just don't suscribe to the view that as soon as someone gets injured you go out and buy someone else in response to it. I mean do we really need to go and buy back-up for the back-up we are forced to use for a bit?

Take someone like Parrett, from what I have seen of him he covers the ground and is a pretty tenacious little fucker. Have him understudy Parker until Sandro is back. Hell, training with him everyday he might learn the ropes and the tricks of the trade and it do wonders for his game. We keep hearing about this great academy we have built and how well the teams are doing, its a load of hot air and money spunked up the wall to me until we see some of them get chances.

Holtby isn't here yet though, and I'd like another creative player besides him anyway, so thats my preference if we bring someone in.

That's the difference though for me, I'm not suggesting its just a gap filler until Sandro comes back (which might be a seriously long time by the way) but more adding real depth to the area we've been strongest in this season, in the middle of the park. Livermore and Hudd's futures look pretty uncertain and I just don't want us to weaken the one area that we've been so strong in if we lose another to injury - Parker/Dembele.

I do agree that some of the younger ones should get more of a chance, I'm all for seeing if they would be ready - just don't see it happening, so its not even in my thinking to be honest.

3.5m for a guy who can cover 2 of our most important positions on the pitch better than our current backups? Yes, sign me up every day of the week.

Not to mention those 2 are going to need breaks considering we are still in the Europa and FA Cup.

Winner Snarfy, winner...

Seriously though, that's it in a nutshell. If we lose Parker or Dembele for any length of time you'll feel the force of it on these boards I tell ya.
