The only top goalie that I've not seen make a mistake was Gordon Banks. Even our great Pat Jennings got the ball knocked out of his hands by Georgie Best as he was trying to toss it up for a big punt; and of course Georgie boy would never let such an error go unpunished.

Shilton was a bit like James and made a few televised goofs in his time.

Hi Chinaman - we may be thinking of different incidents but the incident you mention deffo happened in an international - and of course big pat played on the same side as besty :) the one I remember was against England - Banks or shilton may have been the keeper - think it was Banks - but the goal was disallowed

may have happened in a club game too - I don't recall

certainly Banks made very few mistakes that resulted in goals - tho of course TV wasn't everywhere in those days

for me Big Pat's two biggest gaffes were the one v Chelsea in 72 semi - where between him and Cyril we conceded the softest of goals that knocked us out

an even bigger gaffe (as it was all down to him) was when he let in Crooks shot in the FA cup - but we didn't mind that as it knocked Arsenal out :)

Prefer us to have a non-english goalie, they all seem to lack the mentality. This bloke from Rangers is not even Scottish no.1 surely he can't be that great. Hope we get a spanish or Italian goalie.

Well prefer this to being linked to that long armed clown Gomes that plays for PSV that the Goons are being linked to. He was absolutely barking. Great save one minute and absolute craziness the next. £12m they are rumoured to be wanting for him Eek.

Some have said recently he'll challange Gordon, others have said he's no more than ok. I don't think anyone rates him higher than Borac.
I'm not fussed about him, I prefer names like Kirkland and Foster and as have mentioned before Almeia is a very good keeper (yes kicking too ss57)

Seb Frey is the best of the lot though (yes kicking too SS57)

so he waits for years as understudy at 'gers to get his chance, finally gets it and excels. now he's off to spurs to sit on our bench as understudy to our new keeper.

guy seems to like benches if you ask me.

No, it was not an international. We were playing against ManU. I've forgotten whether it was the same 1968 Charity Shield when he scored with a long punt that bounced over Alex Stepney's head. If so, there would have been headlines like a world record for opposing goalies to make stupid mistakes and one to score from direct play. So I doubt it was the same match.

We've had a few great fucking jocks: Brown, MacKay, White, Conn, Archbald and Gough.

Hi chinaman :) - it certainly wasn't the charity Shield game in 68 - cos I've seen the goals from that game stacks of times and from memory Best doesn't even score - and he certainly doesn't score a goal like you describe

Charlton does score one of the all-time wonder goals though - as Wolstenhome says- 'that was good enough to win the League the FA Cup and the Grand National

I have fond memories of that game - not only was it a classic but I won 8/- (40p for our younger readers) on it from a mate who was convinced UTD would win it- so gave me the draw and an evens bet :)

Pretty sure it was in 1971 not long after he tried it against Banks. Been looking for a clip of it but can't find one. There is something on a man utd fans page that mentions it, but that is all i can find.

No, not as late as that. Could have been 65. it was a high scoring game which I think ended 3-3.

Due to Spurs' early business approach I don't think the traditional window is a valid set of dates for ITK. I'll be petitioning to my MP for ITK discussion to be opened immediately.

sure why not

The Transfer Rumour forum will be opened as and when we decide it is time and not before.

Great, another fucking Jock.

Yeah cause Hutton has been just so terrible since he arrived

he will or at least should be tested tomorow night (i think thats when it is on) Rangers Vs Celtic, maybe a good chance to see if he is good or not for some people. Not seen him alot myself, never really paid attention to him so cant say if he is great or not

Anything over 5ft 10 is big enough for a keeper.

The local team over here in the states has a top goalie for our level and the one above (both below that excuse called the MLS). He has been the best goalie in both divisions for about 6 years. Unfortunately he is short. The only time this is ever an issue is during penalties. The guy stops everything else but can't stop a pk to save his life. That would be my only concern with a keeper under 6 ft. I think he is listed at 5'10 or 5'11.

Looked a bit edgy from a couple of corners and was beaten from distance. To be fair though I think Nakamura's goal would have beaten anybody...terrific strike.
