Wolfsburg is in great form in last 6 league games now....all after Kovac dropped Lacroix for Belgian CB Bornauw.

So, pass....

What happened to him? I know he looked a good prospect but I also know he’s regressed. What exactly has gone wrong with his game? Is it a mental issue or are they’re flaws with his game? I’ve only seen him a few times over the last two seasons and never really watched him that closely. Certainly doesn’t scream to me an answer to our problems.

Correct, he hasn't started their last 7 games including the cup games.

This would scream a cheap opportunistic signing that would probably not be a good one.

don't know much about him, but stats aren't awful. Form is temporary as they say. Weren't Bents and Kulu super youngsters that had become unwanted before we grabbed them?

We know that Sanchez and Tanganga aren't good enough and we don't have endless money if we want a decent LCB so this makes sense to me. Sell Sanchez, loan out Tanganga and bring this guy in for no additional expense. Then throw all the money at a decent LCB in the summer.

His form could be down to many factors and we could be privy to those things.

When you are scouting you don't stop watching a player just because he starts to play poorly, you identify his strengths and weaknesses and see if they are valuable to the team.

The opposite has been true, a player is in fantastic form and looks the real deal but then you sign him and he's not cracked put up to be what you thought.

You should always analyse his skillset, aspects of his game and physical attributes you think suit your team/system.

Eh, you have to trust your scouting too. If we were interested a couple of months ago, then the only real difference now is that he’s on sale.

He was one that I was very, very keen on last winter. He's got big time promise but I am curious why his form has dipped so much and what that has looked like. Concerning if he was dropped but doesn't look like he's played very much all season.

I wonder if we've looked at his teammate Micky van de Ven?

I don't know that much about him but, for those that do, please feel free to mark him against the stringent criteria set by our Board for someone to become a Tottenham player.

Once completed, you'll have yourself a van de Ven diagram.

Tbh most of his hype came Fifa players as he had a high potential on the game and was one of the fastest players too. In real life he has failed to live up to the hype and this really would be a cheap last minute buy.

Totally agree with you. Sometimes I'll take a deeper look, but it's hard during the transfer window when new links pop up throughout the day. So I always try to caveat those types of posts with something like "at a high-level", etc. - I should have made that more clear.

But even at this level view, we can see that Gvardiol for example has way more pass attempts than Lacroix. And if you dive into the aerial winning stats -

Gvardiol has won 10, lost 9 for 52.6% won and 19 total duels faced
Lacroix has won 26, lost 13 for 66.7% and 39 faced.

So as you mentioned we can see that Wolfsburg could face more crosses/long balls than Leipzig rather than just comparing player A vs. player B. It's never quite apples to apples unfortunately.
Sorry, that wasn't meant as a criticism or a request for you to delve deeper into the stats for us - just a general comment that I'd be interested to know how they actually compare in practice, because stats never tell the full story (they do offer useful and interesting insights though).

Haha no problem at all mate! I completely agree with you and just was going further off of your point to show that stats don't tell the full story, just that it's a good starting place ??

If Tanganga goes, don't we need another HG to replace him ?

Tifo recently brought him up as sensible transfer to replace Schär at Newcastle. Here's the segment where they discuss his strengths (timestamped)

"La-croy" ?

La as in La Bamba.
Croy as in Croyden

Or more French and artsy?

La Crwahh ?

IB4 some wise Alec says: "it's pronounced "Lacroix", mate". Yes, yes, very droll. Let's all blow our trousers off in merriment of your hilarious jokes.

I didn't think such a dull video could make me feel dizzy, but that constant switching between aerial and front camera views is fucking annoying.
