Everyone used him a few years ago on Fifa due to his pace.

And that is all I know. It does seem like we have identified Bundesliga as our CB hunting ground.

I’m cool with it. I’d love to see 3 new CBs by next season if we are continuing with Conte. LCB, 1 CCB, 1 RCB/CCB type. Keep Romero/Davies, Lenglet returns from loan, sell 2 of Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga (also sell Rodon). No idea on contracts here with that group of garbage. Can’t be bothered to look since I really don’t care.

I'm sure you pronounce his name differently but everytime I read it I just picture...

I'd be most interested in seeing how he is in a back 3. From what I can see is that Wolfsburg usually play in a back 4. As others have said it seems he's gone off the boil, where 2 seasons ago everyone wanted him, and he's sort of stalled development wise.

If you're looking at the pure paper numbers though, he almost seems on par with Gvardiol and has higher stats in terms of blocks, clearances, and Aerials won per 90 ?

Thanks for the stats. For their defensive stats, I'd be interested to see their success rates, rather than just number per 90 minutes.

If Lacriox is playing in a team that's pinned back and defending a constant onslaught of crosses, having a higher number of blocks, clearances and aerials won could be very misleading. It's also possible that his number per 90 is higher despite attempting fewer, which would be very impressive.

Totally agree with you. Sometimes I'll take a deeper look, but it's hard during the transfer window when new links pop up throughout the day. So I always try to caveat those types of posts with something like "at a high-level", etc. - I should have made that more clear.

But even at this level view, we can see that Gvardiol for example has way more pass attempts than Lacroix. And if you dive into the aerial winning stats -

Gvardiol has won 10, lost 9 for 52.6% won and 19 total duels faced
Lacroix has won 26, lost 13 for 66.7% and 39 faced.

So as you mentioned we can see that Wolfsburg could face more crosses/long balls than Leipzig rather than just comparing player A vs. player B. It's never quite apples to apples unfortunately.

Wolfsburg is in great form in last 6 league games now....all after Kovac dropped Lacroix for Belgian CB Bornauw.

So, pass....

Highly thought of, young player has regressed.

A gamble, maybe. But if he had continued with his upward rise, i'd expect there to be a few bigger fish ahead of us in the pecking order.

So it's said,...he's strong, quick, reads the game well, good aerially, happy to bring ball out, front foot defender, but sometimes a little too aggressive and maybe takes a few too risks defending, notably when in his own box.

I certainly think there's more than enough to work with, and if, Conte can work some magic on him and he gets back on that upward trajectory, we could well have a fantastic CB for a steal.
