It would be good to get him in but I really don’t think we are going to go down his route now unfortunately

The opportunity is really too good to miss.
Not only does he have an incomparable track record of unearthing talent, Ligue 1 is imploding financially.
Perfect appointment at the perfect time.

Levy will do anything Jose wants right now. He trusts him implicitly on the strategic side and the massive success of the summer transfer window will just prove his faith is well founded - not only did we get quality players in, but we got them for comparatively tiny transfer fees.

If Jose thinks his presence will improve us and wants him in, he’ll get him in.

This would be perfect and you'd think hebwas Levys perfect man. Known for buying low selling high. However I think the moment has passed. Would be ideal and do think we need to go down the Chelsea route a little with big academy and players out on loan. Need to start making more money from the youth setup

He can do both. He can try and sign players ready to challenge in the 1st team and also look for talented youth players that can raise the level of our academy. I will say if Levy does get Campos, that probably means that he thinks Jose will be here for some time.

Jose said he hopes as much in his presser midweek.

Had Campos left Lille 12 months ago I think he’d be a Spurs employee now but as we are doing well both Levy and Mourinho might not want to rock the boat right now with results going well on the pitch. We don’t know how things are going behind the scenes. They both might look back on the last transfer window and be happy with how it went and not want to change things.

The timing may just be wrong for this one now, however good Campos is and however much it seems to make sense. It doesn’t mean that Mourinho won’t sound him out for advice, of course and also us his knowledge of Ligue 1 players and their financial situation to our benefit. Let’s just hope if we don’t get him that Man Utd dont

Well if wish fulfilment works then I should think that it's in the bag.

I don't understand this logic at all. If you know a quality resource is available, one which has worked with your manager before and only benefits the clubs he works with, why wouldn't you want to get them in? I don't buy any notion of not wanting to "rock the boat" - if you can improve, you improve. And we've just lost a senior strategic resource, and Hitchin has stepped up into a more strategic role.

It's the complete opposite situation - now is literally the perfect time to bring him in and there's a clearly defined role for him - a role he's successfully played elsewhere, including with Mourinho.

But will levy allow him the rein he needs to get the job done or would he be frustrated by a lack of support

If Campos is as flexible as Jose has been with our transfers, I don't see why this would be an issue. Also, Campos seems to enjoy paying low fees for talented players and Levy enjoys paying low fees for all types of players, if there is legitimate interest in getting Campos to join us, they'll make it work.

Why would he be? Was Jose frustrated this summer? Levy is all-in with Jose at the moment. He'll support anything sensible and realistic.

Every time we've had a DoF (or equivalent), it's been obvious Levy has gone: "Here's the money, get on with it".

I hope a sporting director is appointed before Levy is forced to attack with regards to the current first team squad and manager.

Funny reading the comments above and seeing how much the wheels have come off in the last month. It did seem like we moved players on better when we had a director of football and this season shows we need to move on a load of players and freshen things up. Hopefully we can get someone who has a plan rather than standing around saying January is a tough market like Hitchin.

Well, I bet 90% of sporting directors thinks the same. And 99,99% thinks the same particularly about this window.
