If they get de jong and Eriksen, they would be a worry next season

These two signings would make or break ten Hag imo

Those two would improve them but their midfield would still be light, Ronaldo isn't going press, and the defence is still a mess.

Ten Hag isn't going to have them playing like peak Ajax after one preseason and transfer window.

If United finish top four next season, that'll be a huge success for them.

My early prediction is that De Jong will be one of the flops of the season.

I'm no expert on him, but alarm bells ring. Barcelona deem him surplus, and the player is more suited to La Liga football. Poch also wanted him here, and he also wanted GLC and Ndombele here which were his alternative targets (that doesn't bode well), no other top clubs in for him either.

Funny really my friends boy is a very decent young footballer United wanted him, but instead he choose Brentford which says it all for how much United’s star has fallen with youth of today.

Another prime example of the mess they are in my step daughters sports day last Thursday all the kids had City,Paris,Madrid shirts on few with Liverpool and one with spurs when I was in school a class of 40 would have 35 United fans in it.
I’ve said this before, over the last couple of years it’s really become noticeable, especially my neck of the woods (Beds). There’s only two kids in my youngest’s year who wear ManU shirts and probably the same with Arsenal, can’t recall seeing Chelsea anywhere. Liverpool are probably the best represented with 3/4 and one kid wears Citeh.
The majority by a landslide is Tottenham with a distant second being Barca, RM, PSG and Luton…?

The defence is a big problem for them, as ETH should know. £130m on Maguire & Wan-Bissaka hasn’t solved those problems. Matic has gone so they’re not overburdened with DMs. Donny hasn’t proved himself there yet, neither has Sancho. Rashford is out of form and favour, and Greenwood is a car crash. Pogba, Cavani, Lingard & Mata have all been released, so all in all, a major rebuild required, I’d say.

Still, if he wants to blow his load on FdJ, go for it.

United are more than capable of outspending everyone this window so paying big money for FDJ doesn't mean much. I'm sure the new guy will get the kinda backing Jose got

Just absolute nuts, they keep making shocking mistakes and 70-80m on de Jong is so, so risky.
Maguire -80
Pogba -80
Sanches - 85
Varane - 35 (and absolutely ridiculous wages)
Wan-bissaka - 50

Someone talk to them and tell them to stop making stupid decisions. De Jong is just as stupid as the above.

They are not bad players, but none have them are (or ever have been) elite.

Just for some perspective, we have paid the same amount as de Jong will cost for ALL of our central midfielders.

And on current form there is an argument to say that they that 3 of them are currently better than de Jong. Even Skipp has been called the English de Jong.

Are the Glazers going to give Ten Hag any players or not lol? What are they doing? Chasing De Jong, who doesn't even want to come? Ten Hag ain't going to last a season there.

The longer they remain inactive in the market the stronger Moyes/Fellaini vibes I get.

Look like signing three players from the Dutch League.

Martinez, De Jong and the left back kid.

On one hand they are backing their manager's targets clearly. On the other, it's a high risk buying players who have only ever performed in the Dutch league, and it's not one player, it's three of them and over £130 million spent.

I don’t think that’s true. They just didn’t want to keep paying him £400k a week and man u are offering a huge fee to take him off their hands.

Van Gaal did something similar. Signed Depay, Blind and (I'm sure there was another) but they all largely flopped/didn't perform as highly.

Having said that, I think they'll finish above Arsenal.

Just breaking on Twitter: Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to be allowed to leave Manchester United should the Premier League club receive a satisfactory offer in the transfer window.

Looks like ETH is as clueless as Arteta in not knowing what's needed for their squads. Love it. ?

Can you blame him, Ronaldo wants CL football and United are a mess.

I'd be amazed if Ronaldo didn't negotiate a clause into the contract that if they didn't qualify for the CL he could leave for a reasonable amount.

I mean, is that too obvious a thing to do?
