Almiron looking like he’s going to Saudi, what a surprise that when they need to shift players Saudi comes knocking….
Wonder how much the inflated price would be ? How much do they need to stay clear of FFP......

Come on lads this is all being blown out of proportion.
I mean, who here can honestly say after a few too many beers they’ve never harmed, silenced and ultimately destroyed the family of a country’s former intelligence chief?

Ironically, the guy probably doesn't drink.

Simon Bird in the Mirror speculates in his opinion piece that Almiron is going to be around the 30m mark - which is close to his transfermarkt value anyway. So anything above that is inflated, right?

They don't have too many players that can raise the sort of funds they would need to improve. Selling players like Guimaraes or Isak (their top two on transfermarkt; 85m & 70m) leaves them needing to replace those with players of a similar level as well as add to the squad.

Gordon is third on the list and I doubt they'd sell him. Sven Botman is 4th at 45m. The next five most valuable players are injured or suspended, and Almiron is next.

Well the Premier league clubs themselves voted to allow these types of deals to go through. I believe it was a close vote, but that's democracy for you.

Its frightening how quickly Newcastle have got to this stage and yet the depth of their squad is shocking, so whilst selling Almiron helps they're going to have to get a shit tonne of dodgy sponsorships through to make their squad one that can consistently challenge.

Obviously it's dodgy as fuck but if Almiron goes for something like market value there can't be too many complaints, although finding another team to pay the money wouldn't be easy. I doubt the player is to keen though, after joining Newcastle quite a while ago now I'm sure he anticipated a move to somewhere a bit more prestigious.

It's also worth remembering that it might get them out of ffp trouble selling someone who plays more or less every game is making them worse on the pitch, what can they spend to replace him if at all and will more need to be sold to improve in the summer?

Weird Newcastle are struggling with ffp as I thought previously had been said on here under Mike Ashley’s previous prudent regime they had a decent amount of wriggle room to spend some cash?

They haven’t spent an obscene amount since the new owners came in either?

PSR only accounts for the last 3 years, so we're getting to the point where the Ashley years are no longer included in the calculations.

They've spent about £400million on transfers since the takeover, and recouped very little in sales.

Their revenues are far behind the big clubs (£200-250m ish), and their big wage bill accounts for 80-90% of that.

They've posted losses of £71m and £73m in the last two accounting periods, so a repeat of that would see them exceed the PSR threshold by more than £100m.

In theory, could they sell Almiron or any player to Saudi and then loan him back to get around FFP?

I’m sure dad was calling Almiron a cheating little fucker when he was watching a match the other day.

Although to fair I think him cursing at the screen is most the fun for him lol.

I think that Newcastle are going to be ultra cautious until they see how things pan out with the FFP cases.

I remember when the takeover happened at NUFC the pundits were saying that because of their lack of spending during the 3yr lead up meant they were in a great position to buy big. What happened, did they blow the budget in the first window?

8 out of 9 of Newcastle biggest signings have been post takeover.

Michael Owen was in the top 3 before the Saudi's came in...
