Lovren gets joint player of the month at Liverpool...

It's hard to figure out Liverpool at the moment, it's hard to get excited by them. To me, it's like they're going nowhere fast. Come the end of the season, when the prizes are being given out, Liverpool will be nowhere near them.
There's not too much to say about Liverpool. If they were playing out in my back garden, I wouldn't watch them.
Wait.... A club player of the month????? Like seriously? Do they get their face on the wall like those "employee of the month" crap?
Do we have the same thing? I hope not.
He's kinda trying the Shankly quote but didn't quite nail it:Roy Keane with some pretty brutal analysis of Liverpool football club last night, on ITV's highlights show:
They signed the perfect player for Spurs last summer, though: Mohamed Salah.
Yes, he cost £35M but that is almost a bargain in to day's crazy transfermarket. And it wasn't much more than Spurs paid for Sissoko the year before (and the transfermaket was not as crazy then). Spurs really lack a speedster like Salah up front.
And just one point behind us........ until we batter Palace later today. But in all seriousness as bad as we think Liverpool and Arsenal have been, they're still only a point behind usGood result for Liverpool today. Draws them level on points with Burnley.

We have a speedster in Son. If Poch thought more pace in the front line was essential he would play him more often and over others that usually get the nod first. Fact is Poch would rather play a slightly different way most of the time.

Son may be fast but he's not a speedster. And he lacks the first touch, close ball skills and often lack "visions" with his runs.
Sure, against teams that park the bus - which most teams does vs Spurs now days whether home or away - speedy feet is often nost the most effective way to break down their defense... the fact is that Pochettino tried to sign Mane, did sign Clinton and N'koudou, so you can't say Pochettino can't find a place for a quality speedy CF/WF in his system. If he had one.

I don't understand some of our fans' obsession with "speedsters" as you put it. Our main problem going forward is breaking teams down who sit back and park the bus. In that situation there's no space to run in behind so what good does having a "speedster" do? You need players who can either run with the ball in tight spaces i.e. Dembele, or players who can thread lethal passes through a compact defense. Speed means nothing if you don't have space.

I'd half get it if we had a properly slow team, like Everton for example, but we don't. We probably don't have anyone as fast as Mane/Salah, but we don't have a particularly slow squad either IMO.
