As painful as it is to say, time to stick a few bob on a home win next Sunday. If that's the home performance we can put out today, after 2 weeks of rest, I can't even bear thinking about what we will be like at Anfield after 3 games in a week...
Did you really think our performance was that bad?

When asked about Slot claiming to have rejected Spurs’ offer, Spaan said on the Hard Gras podcast (as relayed by Soccer News): “So he’s said that three times, but Spurs stopped negotiating.

“Dennis te Kloese (Feyenoord CEO) thought it was a worthless offer. Slot is now acting as if he pulled the plug, but that is simply not the case. Tottenham Hotspur just didn’t want to pay more.”

Could this be the third time Levy got it right? Back in the day he signed Poch intead of a Dutch guy (sorry name slips my mind) who went to Palace for a few months before he was moved on.
He passed on Man Us current boss, who has the personality of a damp squid and really is poor.
Now this one. Slot may really want to go there, but wait until you're there before shouting off in the press. Bullet dodged.

Well he wanted another Dutchie Van Gaal over Poch but he went to Utd, then yea he rightly picked Poch vs Frank De Boer who was very poor at Palace.

Ten Haag hasn’t been the most likeable but he did win them a trophy and has got them to 2x fa cup finals in a row and did well in the league apart from this season so I think harsh to ETH to call him bullet dodged.

As for Slot , I think he’s the best of the 3. He’s over performed with his Feyernoord side, he’s good tactically. His teams rank very highly for high pressing and high turnovers and his sides play very attractive nice passing football and he seems like a very likeable character. Time will tell but for me he was my first choice after Ange and I said that at the time.

I think he’ll do very well at lpool fwiw.

They're tricky to call for next season, feel it's a pivotal moment for them. Their top players over recent years are all on their way out (Salah, VDV & TAA all running down their contracts with one year left).

Behind those three the squad is relatively thin on the ground. They've done well this year but it feels like they survive on energy levels and vibes rather than dominating games and outclassing teams.

He's got to make a big call on continuing with the young players coming through (who I don't think are good enough to challenge at the top of the league) or making wholesale changes that could disrupt the energy / atmosphere in the squad.

I like what I've seen from him but just think it's the worse possible time to be taking on this Liverpool team

I think so too, they've been running on fumes the last few weeks and managed to style it out for longer than I expected.

I posted this back in May last year and it was from a very good source......

Slot didn't decide to stay there because of CL or because it was a successful team. He decided to stay because when it came to crunch time the club wouldn't consider paying the price required. I expect that is in part because of all the indecision at the club right now, levy was never truly convinced. Make no mistake though Slot would have come had we pushed for him.

This is what happened in 20-21. I've been saying all along that top managers need to know they are wanted it's how they know they'll be backed and supported. When push comes to shove and you sit on your hands saying "well we like you but not at that price" whilst speaking to others of course they are going to go with another option.

So you’re telling me that Levy isn’t very user friendly and has issues around trust, loyalty, bonding, charisma, camaraderie & delegation

A bean counting control freak, you say

I’d never have thunk it

To be fair, I think at the price mooted, I think that is probably fair.

Nagelsmann and Ange being other potential options certainly would have weighed against going for a coach from the Dutch league who could be a huge risk.

Especially when you consider that Ange has moved into different environments and tougher challenges whilst continuing to have success along the way. Whereas Slot has done superb at 2 of the Netherlands biggest clubs but not shown that outside of that environment yet.

I could understand being a little annoyed if he was the outstanding candidate but it looks like he was possibly the preferred candidate but not far and away clear.

Not exactly the best time to be posting in the 'Let's all laugh at Liverpool' thread, but...

The rumours recently were that he was a signing the Liverpool scouting team were completely against but Klopp overruled them and forced through the signing.

With Klopp now not starting him in the last two games, it seems he's realised that he should've listened to his scouts in the first place! (The scouts wanted Nkunku, who would've been brilliant for him imo)

Have to wonder now if Liverpool are looking to move Nunez on and if so how much of a financial hit they're going to take on him?😅

Slot announcing himself as the new manager before an official announcement and before Klopps farewell on Sunday isn't going to land well with their fans I reckon.

Am I being harsh in thinking he sounds a bit…. “I’m special me, people here are going to miss me”?

Could be a translation thing as I didn’t notice if the interview was in English or Dutch.

Nope that sounds exactly what he’s tried to do there. Why else would you announce it, if he weren’t after some fanfare himself.

You’re leaving and wanting out, fair enough, but you give straight bat replies in the Press Conference, then say goodbye when it’s announced. Sounds like he’s going to suit them down to the ground.

Will be interesting to see how he is though, he was my choice ahead of Ange, but thankfully Ange has impressed.

Slot sounds like a dodge bullet for us. I just can't see him being great at Liverpool and his comments/personality just come off completely wrong to me. We hit the jack pot with Ange and his personality. We just need to back him and let him have time to rebuild the club.

It sounds very discourteous and unprofessional, especially as Feyenoord still have a game to play. Concentrate on seeing out your job with your current employer before you start thinking, let alone talking, about your next job.

Agreed but I actually think his personality might be a great fit for Pool. He'd have been a swing and miss here with that attitude IMO.
