Something incredibly suspicious and/or stupid about Newcastle United still going ahead and paying £30m for this kid...
This article explains better. They've only paid £4m, £24m might be paid.

The crucial bit is that even if they do pay it will be in next season's calc not this, so essentially still £100m adrift.

Sounds like they might not have a choice. Howe certainly gave the impression previously that he wasn't keen on keeping him, but it seems the loan deal included a conditional obligation to buy that is close to being triggered.
If it's based on the number of times he's named in a squad, can't they just stop picking him in their squad? It might weaken them a little in the short term but surely that's better than being forced to pay £30m for a player you don't want. Everton didn't want to pay us the £10m or whatever it was for Alli so they just stopped playing him before the payment was triggered.

I'm resigned to them somehow clearing the debt for this year. Which is handy for them. Quite how they'll manage to bring anyone in as well in these circs is a different matter.

They’ve dropped one of their sponsors, knowing their luck they’ll replace them with some other company that will sort out their financial issues.

Here we go.
Dropping a sponsor that pays 2m a year- wait for the 200m a year new deal to sports-wash everything.
This is gonna stink to high heaven!

You mean like a PIF owned airline that doesn't actually fly right now:

I read somewhere that Chelsea reported Mount as 22/23 transfer so things could be even harder for them if that's true. They would need 150m+ in that case. Even if it's not true they could lose some points next season and will be less attractive to top tier coaches.

After today’s rumours that they need to shift 15 players this summer - right lads, who do we fancy? Palmer, naturally.

I don't see how that would make a difference because either way it's included in the last 3 years ending June 2024, which can have a max loss of 105 million.

They just have to wait until July and then they can bring players in. Basically they have to sell several players before June 30th and then they're free to spend again on July 1st. They could afford something like a 120 million loss in the next fiscal year and be in line with regulations.

Can’t see them selling Palmer. He’s their only consistent performer this season and they only just signed him.

Well worth 30m then. Absolute joke if Newcastle pay that.

can Newcastle afford £30 mil this finical year ?

surly it will need to be spread over future seasons?

im guessing if u can spread payments over seasons to immortalise players, it must work the other way when you pay ?

The transfer cost including add ons is what gets amortised over 5 years.

The amount you actually pay and when is completely separate.
