Someone will definitely trigger Maatsen's release clause too, unless he gets some terrible injury.

They've made it a release clause so yes, which makes no sense if they actually want to sell because it will reduce the number of buyers.
There’s nothing stopping them selling for terms different than the release clause though, is there. They can sell him under whatever terms they like, to whoever they like.

I’ve just read a piece that said his deal is dependent on how many squads he is named in, not minutes played, and United's final Premier League position, which they are believed to achieve this term.
What complete nonsense though, a loan signing that doesn’t play even when you are at the bare bones but still gets named in squads.
Is that the latest way around things now….

That will be another £35m

I think they'll comfortably hit the £100m target tbh.
But surely the issue is that they could sell 100m but if they spend say 150m in the window, they'd just be in the same situation the following summer?

It’s exactly this stuff is how they’ll survive it.
They might get lucky and scrape under the threshold this year, but they'll be back in the same position again next time around.

Their wage bill and amortisation aren't going to come down for a long time - and as long as they keep failing to qualify for the Champions League, their revenues aren't going to go up.

Selling Hall/Maatsen/Broja etc. is just a band-aid on a gaping wound.

Adds credence to what we already knew thanks to @Trix , but seems strange that they’re simultaneously getting strong links to the likes of Osimhen, Williams etc.

Well if that other poster who said their losses are 120m and 90m in the last two years is correct, that means they would need 105 million profit this year (before end of June), but then the following year (starting in July) they could afford a 120 million loss and still be at net -105m for 3 years.

I think they’ll keep finding a way or a loophole or hope there are some regulation changes etc which means the can keeps getting kicked down the road. They’ll come out alright because that’s way it’s been for them.

Something incredibly suspicious and/or stupid about Newcastle United still going ahead and paying £30m for this kid...
Sounds like they might not have a choice. Howe certainly gave the impression previously that he wasn't keen on keeping him, but it seems the loan deal included a conditional obligation to buy that is close to being triggered.
