Amazing news.

I have two fears though.

1. They remove the sanction after a few months and Abramovich goes back to normal running them.

2. The Government make special dispensation for the sale of the club and sell it for a low value which means Chelsea end up with another sugar daddy type.

I'm just fearing the worst here as they land on their feet a lot!

They've sanctioned him for owning the steel company, which steel is allegedly used in the manufacture of the tanks being used to kill people in Ukraine. I mean, he's fucked. There's no getting out of that.

Lets start a rumour that Mike Ashley has expressed an interest in taking the club off his hands, that'll cheer their fans up!

Simon Jordan seems to believe a sale will be possible asap. With Romans statement that he would take no profits from the sale of the club, the government could oversee a sale, and along with the buyer, control where the money for the purchase goes. It makes sense, it would be in the best interests of the government, PL etc to remove him from being the owner as soon as possible

As amazing as this all sounds - the Government will allow a sale with no money going to Roman. The reports about this are already starting to come out now.

My close mates are both Chelsea fans and the copium right now is delicious lol

Quite possibly, but it won't be done that quickly at all. He has been sanctioned, but selling off his assets cant be done until it's gone through a lot of lawyers hands. Anyone saying anything else will just be guessing or spreading rumours.

Exactly this, I'm not gonna get too excited. It'll be fudged somehow, and Chelsea will be owned by someone else, equally as rich.

Keep us updated - while I would like to hear his opinion on the situation, it doesn't over power how massively offputting Jim White is. He's insufferable.

Your first point I wouldn't worry about because unfortunately the entire face of European politics has now shifted for likely the next few decades and Russia aren't coming back from this as long as Putin is in power.

Your second point - they will get another sugar daddy type because thats the only sort of person who could afford to spend several billion quid on a football club but you would like to think there would be much more scrutiny on them and where they got their money.

No the proper sugar daddies who plough their own money in, they buy clubs for cheap prices so they can plough their own money in.

The type of owners who spend £1.5b plus on clubs will be the types who take money out of the club and don't care about results, like the Glazers.

If the government facilitates a sale, with no money going to Abramovich. Then won't Chelsea be fine once they have a new owner?

I doubt they'll go back into midtable obscurity.
