He only had one knee, Tottenham fans sang, but it was all Ledley King needed.

A crippling injury meant he could only train once a week as his knee swelled up like a balloon after playing, meaning once it was drained he had to rest for six days with his training essentially involving a quick jog – and he would still be the best on the pitch.

The highest compliments came from one of the most prolific strikers, Henry.

He took the ball away without fouling you.

It's simple really, if Woody could, so could Ledders. That's not to take anything away from Woodgate - absolute top-class defender. But Ledley was better.

Always Remember watching him and being amazed at his ability to read the game and his passing range

his exhibition against Argentina before the World Cup in 2004 was something else - out of position but totally at home and a total boss against an amazing team

totally blessed to have him

Also, went into Midfield and instantly looked our most composed midfielder :D

I remember Sherwood saying, "i told Ledley he needed to calm down a bit on the pitch"

A true Rolls Royce of a player, never looked like he was sprinting but was never outpaced...

Agreed. He could've been England captain too. I always felt safe when King played for us.

Imagine having one of him or wood gate playing for us or England now. It would lift both teams up a level.

It really annoys me how other fans can’t put aside their tribal mentality to admit that he is legit the most talented CB to grace the PL. Then again, even if he was fit and fulfilled his potential I think they’d still not admit it...

I think you're being the tribal one! We know how good he was, but until you're able to prove it at the highest level that talent will never truly be appreciated. Sadly we were forever a mid-table team in the Ledley days.

Imo he is the best defender England produced since Bobby Moore I think if he didn't have his injuries he would have overtaken Bobby as the best. God we were blessed with some of the best over my 56 years of supporting spurs and Ledley was one.

I dont really like the '....could have played for real Madrid' as if that is the highest level every player should be aiming for.
