I don't think this boy is that bad, but quite frankly Inter have been asking way too much for him for years. He's not the hottest thing to come out of Brazil anymore and simply isn't worth that much. His goalscoring record is not high enough to command £20mil plus. I think they stand a good chance of stifling that kid's career if they carry on this way, as I do think he can be quality if allowed to leave to go to the right club.

Having said that, knowing what all those third party ownerships are like in Brazil they'll probably only get something stupid like 25% out of the fee, which is probably why they ask for so much.

Just cannot see us making any more signings this window, though right now, nothing would surprise me with this window

Me neither, but one more (smart & swift) last minute steal of a young top quality striker & an attack-minded LB (who is equally adept at tracking back), would make this summer (heck, this year) complete!

You know what I'm actually warning to this, I want us to sign him so he can be the backup striker behind Soldado and let him know how it feels to sign for a big team and to be treated like a bitch and have him dependant on us rather than us on him.

But seriously I wouldn't mind him at the right price - deadline day special.

That's a bit spiteful. I don't think the problems with us not getting him fall on Damiao specifically, I think it's got more to do with Inter's President who really appeared to be jerking us around nonstop. This transfer has just been so drawn out that it's hard to really get excited about it. And, when you add into the fact that Damiao's star has faded a bit, it just makes for an overall underwhelming proposition.

I can see a few cliques forming in the dressing room.

The Belgium trio of Vertonghen, Dembele and Chadli. I think Verts will get his pal Eriksen in the gang too.
The Brazilian connection of Sandro, Paulinho, Gomes (if he's still here) and Leandro.
The French connection of Lloris, Kaboul and Capoue

It's like playing FIFA Ultimate team trying to get the right chemistry.
If you wanted a young centre forward who might settle nicely into the team Leandro could be ideal.

Yeah I wasn't being entirely serious on that point mate :D

I still think he's got special qualities that would enable us to change our game against differing opposition and is a totally different player to Soldado.

Apologies if I fell into the sarchasm.

I think he could be a good option and he'd have the advantage of coming here and being acclimatized slowly instead of thrown into the deep end expecting to produce (as we might have hoped in the past).

I really agree with this point ... I noticed today against Hull, Man City swapped Dzeko for Negrado who came on and scored...
I think if we let Defoe or Ade go then we need another striker... I don`t think Kane is ready for the prem..

Didn't just swap him, had Dzeko in street clothes.

As a second option - would be a smashing signing. I was becoming incredibly nervous about this guy as our "striker signing to unite us all" though.

But yeah, helping carry around Bobby's boots, what harm could it do?

in a World Cup year (in Brazil no less) I doubt he want to move here where he'd take time to adjust and show the sort of form he'd need to get in the squad - much less to a team where he'd have to fight just to get game time

Not to mention the fact that even without that his club has always proved far apart in their valuation of him than ours - I just don't see it happening

No me neither. He needs a stonking season tbh. To get into the WC frame proper. Otherwise, he'll be what, 26? Inter and his agent will never get the price they want.

Then again, Brazilian footy has got some money now and maybe he's happy playing for Inter and staying in Brazil. It's hardly a crazy notion. Incredibly wealthy footballer lives the high life in Brazil.

I'd sign up for some of that.:D

According to Sky Sports: http://www1.skysports.com/news/12040/8898660/

"There is nothing. Liverpool never made any offer, and I have never received a phone call from them. I don't even know if they could afford to sign Leandro Damiao."
Giovanni Luigi

THIS LOOKS REALLY FAMILIARRRR 2 ME:sneaky:

It's clear to all the world that he's trying to whore him about and get the maximum amount possible - Reeks of desperation and a man who knows he's overplayed his hand. He should of pulled the trigger when we came in and Damiao's stock was highest. Now off the back of a very indifferent season and no longer considered a 'prospect'; he'd be lucky to get 15 million euros for Damiao.
