I just don't see how Benzema is any different from Ade. Yes on their day they are both unplayable, but that day is 1 out of every 10. Benzema has been awful for Madrid.

Benzema would score goals for us, there's no doubt in my mind. But we have Soldado and he will be able to do the same once we start to supply him the ball. Defoe and Adebayor are also perfectly capable of scoring goals in this league.

If we're going to spend big money before the window closes, I'd like to see it on a winger, preferably one who can play on the left.

I guess you haven't been following Benzema then.
Granted he's surrounded by world-class talent, but he's still easily one of the top 10 most productive and efficient attacking footballers in Europe.
Just last year alone he generated a total of 16 goals and 17 assists in ONLY 2215 minutes of play for RM, which amounts to either a goal or an assist every 67 minutes! That's fucking amazing, regardless of his teammates or what kind of form he's in.
And yes, he's been sort of out of form, but imho he's all worth his £33 million price tag (or whatever it is ATM), because under proper guidance he will be completely unplayable (as you mentioned above).

PS. That's not to say we're going to sign him (in fact I don't even know if we're in for him tbh).
Could be a diversion for some other signing. I don't know. But I do know that I am more than happy with all of our current Summer acquisitions. Can't complain, tbh. Just gotta break everybody in, and we're set. It'll be fun trying to come up with different formations and lineups to fit everyone now, imo.

Would love Benzema at Spurs .... but I am already very satisfied with the signings Spurs have made and would not feel disappointed at all if Levy & co won't be able to sign him nor any other this window.

Let's be honest, Defoe would score a goal every 90 minutes for Madrid too. They play poor opposition a lot and he is surrounded by the best players in the world setting him up or poaching on the chances they create. It just seems like a weird signing seeing as we have Soldado...Neither would be happy with a backup role.

Well here's a question then, would Defoe get into Madrid's team? No, I don't think he would, either. If you don't think Benzema would be an unbelievable signing, and has proven himself at a higher level than Soldado, then... I don't know what to tell you.

It bears mentioning that Benzema has been used to superb effect cutting in from the left, and I suspect that if we were able to get him, he'd be used in a fluid front three with Soldado and Lamela.

First post!

Had been a lurker for the past two summer windows hehe. Really gutted about the lost yesterday, and the gooners' celebration at the end irked me even more. Can't believe they're closed to Ozil, and that smirk Wenger have at the end of the interview was a sign.

As dirty as Suarez as a player, he is still quality. Would prefer him than big Ben tbh. Really thought the 'JAWS' link to Suarez was spot on.

where goat said we are in for benzema ?? can anyone tell me?? :\

The last update is usually a good place to start looking

Who: The Goat
When: Just now you slags
Where: Here. Duh.

Further to update 389, it seems we are trying for one of two players. Our source is happy for us to name one of them, which is Benzema. The identity of the other he asks that we keep to ourselves. Although he has agreed to allow an A&C cryptic.

Are you sure you can handle that?

If the source is happy to name him I think its a smoke screen so we dont get Willianed again.

Goon fans think they have Benzema and Ozil.

No chance. Absolutely no chance.

We might not like it, but if he were allowed to leave he'd surely go to Arsenal ahead of us. Higher wages, champs league football, french manager.

Honestly, my personal stance on this as that I won't even entertain the idea, ITK or not

Can't see this happening, but surely we have to get something out of this 'special relationship'? Other than inflated prices for our star players.

Have I actually just read some f**king idiots state that Benzema is a bad player? Seriously?

Also Benzema's biggest problem is playing as a central striker at Madrid, which doesn't totally play to his strengths especially with Ronaldo taking pot shots rather than passing a lot. The guy is made for the 10 role and would be utterly devastating for us. I'd give my left nut to have him at Spurs. I can't believe anyone can keep a straight face saying they wouldn't want him, this isn't a Kaka type signing where the player is over the hill, he is just getting to his prime.
