No thread for him as yet, so here it is.

This evenings Goat ITK suggests we are in for him. Seems a bit...convenient to me. Been linked with the goons, so seemingly on the market - but for us? Be cracking to have him but wouldn't it make us a little lopsided? We only have one starting striker spot, and I can't see why we would sign Soldado only to make him compete. Leandro coming in I can understand, but not Benzema.

Not sure if this is one of those fabled smoke screens/Ryan babel disruption tactics. To me, it seems a LW/LinF is the position we should be looking at if we have another £45m to spend.

I would say them selling Benzema would be more likely than Ozil. As the crowd have been on his back and he isnt world class and I could see them selling him to get in Suarez. Since ITK Adidas and them getting bank loans for Bale they dont need to sell to balance the books.

Suarez In and Benzema out would be a great window for them.

He needs to leave Madrid to save his career as he isnt a shadow of the beast that bullied teams for Lyon

I don't see the point of Benzema, we already have Soldado and Benz would prob be in the 30 mils (or if the goat is right 45 mil) so would automatically make him first choice. There would be no point playing him on the left, he is a striker. Would much prefer it if we went for Draxler or El Swaarawy. Some to play on the left who is as good or better then Lamela and Eriksen and can give Chadli competition. If you have a midfield made up of Draxler, Lamela and Eriksen, Defoe would be more then enough as a back up striker sitting infront of them.

Agree, if we got Ozil and Arse got Benzema I would be very happy indeed with our window, if the two where reversed..... Not so much.

I honestly think Benzema is world class. I really do. Although I don't think he'll join us due to the lack of Champions Leauge. We'll spend 45m on Suarez tomorrow instead.

Can't believe people saying Benzema is a bad player. Soldado us an excellent buy, but Defoe as backup is too much of the same type of player. Benzema can play on top alone or in a two. He is better than what we have if we need to bring the play up fast, with more physique and technique and he scores. We could use soldado/ Defoe or Benzema for what we needed from the game.. Sure Suarez (that prick) or any other mass erection provokers of a class like rooney, falcao (if tax issues - nah, forget it), lewandowski -ish players would be better but not realistic at this point. Wonder though... Could the other one from the goat also be a striker? Dzeko available?

Benzema is a good player but he drops way too deep whenever I watched him. The Euros spring to mind especially. Personally I'd prefer an out-and-out striker that we already have in Soldado. If we hadn't signed him already, I'd be all for it, though.

Oh behave. He has pretty much been a 1 in 2 striker since his Lyon days and still only 25. His technical ability is fantastic, and he can cover a few positions. He would suit AVB and the league extremely well. Fantastic player IMO. And I realise you are entitled to yours but calling him a lump of shite is just fucking silly.

He is a good player but he isnt the world class player he looked to be and if he did come here he would second choice to Soldado but with the potential to be world class or one of the best

I think Benzema is one of the more frustrating players out there. When he's on, the dude is legit. He can dominate anyone when he plays to his ability. Unfortunately, he doesn't do it enough. You could make a case it's as a result of being in the Ronaldo shadow and if he goes somewhere to be THE guy he could take off. I just don't know if you could reasonably risk a huge investment on that. He's got age on his side, however.

If Chelsea are looking to deal Ba to just about anyone, I'd have no issue with bringing him on. He offers something a bit different to Soldado, he's PL proven and we all know he's not a long-term option. For a year or two we could do worse if we offset his fee by selling Adebayor.

Honestly can't believe some people don't want Benzema. No chance he will even consider us in my opinion. Hope I'm wrong though!
