Agree. You would want someone to hit the ground running and you think this would make sense.

Jota has 60 G/A in 79 matches at LW
Has 24 G/A in 40 matches at RW

So it does seem he could contribute from either side. Even if it's only for 6 months then reassess in summer I'd be OK with it.
Quite a great record despite the league differences etc. Still gotta be on it to fulfil those figures

This would be an amazing move.

Also I really hope Ange was just playing things down in the media cleverly when he said don't expect miracles in January because if we sign: Dragusin, Jota and a CM this Jan then for me compared to how we usually operate that would be a miracle window and would give us what we need certainly for a top4 finish if not for a sneaky title challenge.

Jota is absolutely class and would add a creative and different dimension to our attacking set-up, he's also a really exciting player to watch and knows Ange's system so would hit the ground running for us.

I was greatly encouraged by his CL stats which I shared the other day.

That tells me there is a decent chance he can step up to PL level, even more so if Ange wants him here.

We did a "deal" with Kulu and Bentancur where we had an option to buy after a loan period.

I just see the possible Jota loan as similar, besides why shouldn't a club be interested in a 'deal" Ange has worked with the player, the player has worked in Ange's system so where's the risk?

Imagine if we had done a similar deal for N'Dombele?
My only concern with this one is wages. I think Jota would be a decent signing, on whatever basis, as long as we're not matching his Saudi wages. He's £50-75k per week player as it stands, so any more than that then we will struggle to offload if we sign him perm and it doesn't work out.

But Ange likes him and he's played Ange's style of football before, so assuming the wages are sensible then it's a yes from me on Jota.

This is the main thing for me, Ange has managed him before so both sides know what they're in for

Yea he looked at home in the CL for Celtic mate, would be an absolute steal if we can sign him.

Him and Hatate were the 2 players I wanted Ange to bring from Celtic.

Yep same, Hatate just back from injury but doesn't seem to be fancied by Rodgers, don't think he featured much before he got injured, he was incredible under Ange would love him to come - signed a new deal at the start of the season I believe though.

No talks with this so far . his agent is trying to bring him here knowing the manager exposed his previous form before his move . Ange does love the player but there are a few concerns not just with jota but squad related too .

If this does not happen soon, I would think it's not going to happen at all. It does not seem like the kind of deal that will make sense at the end of the window when players start getting back.

Very interesting, I just assumed it was pretty much nailed on. Thanks for the info as always 🤝

Why was it nailed on ? I’m not ruling it out completely but a decision hasn’t been made on this and no talks have taken place at board level . We don’t want to start bloating areas of the squad when players are due to return soon barring Sonny and he hasn’t played any competitive football . His wages could pose a problem too ! A forward who can facilitate all 3 roles is ideally the player we require im not sure he’s of that profile

Herc was saying he was expecting this to be done on loan and with the past Ange connection, him supposedly being available for the low plus media linking him a lot It just felt like a likely move that we would happen. I’m not particularly upset about it, just more curious as to who are looking at. I can’t think of many players who are comfortably across the front line that might be available. I do agree tho that with Solomon and Son I’m not sure another right footed LWF would be most necessary.

I get the feeling with Jota that it’s more likely he sits on the list u til a space opens up, it’s not a car of sign him on top of what we already have, but rather that if say a Spanish team comes in for Gil, we might look at moving Gil on and bringing Jota in to cover that space.

I’m not sure we would look to put his additional wages on top of Solomon, Gil, Perisic, Kulu etc which, I guess it depends on how you look at it, is Jota likely better than some of those players? I’d say yes, but we also know we aren’t likely to spend without at least a little movement elsewhere.

I think the only place we are ready to have any sort of net spend is at CB as even Stevie Wonder could tell you we’re in desperate need of one.

Makes total sense to me. Good player, who if we were looking for depth, great. But not going to be a game changer. Sensible

Who's your preference @Ghost Hardware?

For that next forward signing in the next couple of windows?

Have to admit that considering how much this move 'makes sense', I haven't felt like there's been a great deal of a noise surrounding it, so I'm not surprised by WLB's comment.

Not that it couldn't be beneficial, but the fear of potentially bloating an area of the squad when a forward who can facilitate all 3 roles is more of an ideal target is logical thinking really. Especially when you consider Gil still being here, Solomon returning from injury and Son now seemingly being shifted there permanently with Richarlison currently scoring through the middle.

Not sure who would fit that bill mind.
