Supposedly done deal to City for circa £45m and around £80k per week. Annoyingly good business by them.
Obviously early days, but I've been annoyed with this deal and the Mahrez rumors as well, as it will make a ridiculously strong side even stronger. Same with Liverpool: Fabinho + Keita already in and Fekir allegedly on his way. I've accepted that City is out of our league financially and squad-wise, but we should certainly keep pace with Liverpool. These are excellent additions to their squad. As others have pointed out, it's make or break for us this transfer window.

He's probably the reason Liverpool went from 4th in the league, to the dizzying heights of.... 4th in the league....oh wait.

Let's be real here, if they didn't reach the CL final they could well have finished second. Form went to pot around the time of the city games. Finishing above Liverpool was great for banter, but that's all. It's clear they made big progress.

I understand being bullish in your support, and I wouldn't be shocked if we also did good business and finished above them next season, but there's no substance to that when not trying to wind up a Liverpool fan.

Christ you sound like the media...yeah they were good to watch but nothing tangible I'm afraid, they're only making signings as they've got the money from when they sold their best player in January.
8-9 seasons we've finished above them now, with much less resources to work with, come back to me when that changes mate.

Same old shit on here every year when other teams start making signings early..its like clockwork.

There's a difference, last year for example I never bought into the furore over Everton. I could tell their signings had no real plan. That was pure transfer jealousy blinding people.

However Liverpool have gone from no DM (a key weakness) to signing one of the highest regarded in Europe. They've also added one of the highest regarded young CMs in Keita (RM are rumoured to have bid for him before he's even kicked a ball for them!). They are a threat, especially if they get a proper GK.

I do actually realise, post Chelsea game blip aside, we were the form team for most of 2018, and took 4 points off of them, but I personally believe we are very evenly matched.

I hate Liverpool and their constant media love ins but they have progressed, it's clear to see. Even more of a concern is that they've always been clearly flawed but are actually starting to solve those flaws. I hope Salah ends up being a one hit wonder though!

Us finishing above them last season is similar to when Arsenal pipped us on the last day 3 seasons ago, they probably laughed our progress off too...

What I will say however is I think we were a bit off colour for large parts of the season (whereas they hit their heights more often) and think we could surprise a few people in our new home, if we have a good window.

No need to be cocky. If it weren't for Harry Kane, we would've been placed below 4th
