There's a difference, last year for example I never bought into the furore over Everton. I could tell their signings had no real plan. That was pure transfer jealousy blinding people.
However Liverpool have gone from no DM (a key weakness) to signing one of the highest regarded in Europe. They've also added one of the highest regarded young CMs in Keita (RM are rumoured to have bid for him before he's even kicked a ball for them!). They are a threat, especially if they get a proper GK.
I do actually realise, post Chelsea game blip aside, we were the form team for most of 2018, and took 4 points off of them, but I personally believe we are very evenly matched.
I hate Liverpool and their constant media love ins but they have progressed, it's clear to see. Even more of a concern is that they've always been clearly flawed but are actually starting to solve those flaws. I hope Salah ends up being a one hit wonder though!
Us finishing above them last season is similar to when Arsenal pipped us on the last day 3 seasons ago, they probably laughed our progress off too...
What I will say however is I think we were a bit off colour for large parts of the season (whereas they hit their heights more often) and think we could surprise a few people in our new home, if we have a good window.
I am trying not to make this Tottenham Vs Liverpool I will agree there isn't much between the clubs currently squad wise but I still feel we have a better squad/team. Last Season CL we had a much more difficult passage than Liverpool we also had to deal with Wembley the lose of Walker Rose Wanyama Toby Lamela.
I'm not down playing Liverpool, they've done pretty well getting to the final and qualifying for CL again playing counter attacking football, however I much prefer our style of play in its totality possession press fluid interchangeable football. If/When Poch gets the players he wants our style of football is more dominate success will come not on dominance tho but with efficiency / clinical finishing
