Odd that Daniel James doesn’t count as association trained for ManUtd.

I thought folks were saying that rule got changed after 2012 and welsh were HG even for Europe?

The rule never changed for home grown purposes.
"Folks were saying", you mean one person posted an article, came up with a 2+2=7 argument saying he would count as Association trained, and a couple of people including you ran with it.
The only thing that changed was for administration purposes Cardiff, Swansea and Newport discipline has been dealt with by the FA rather than the FA of Wales since 2012 for consistency purposes with teams they are competing against, Wales is still a separate country to England, Cardiff and Swansea are still registered as clubs with the FA of Wales, not the English FA. Joe Rodon will not count towards home-grown or association trained for European Competitions if he joined us.

Did he play yesterday during the friendly? If so, how would you rate him?
This was my view.
Just reflecting on the game last night and Ings had a quiet first half but much better in the second half and for his goal he was standing on the penalty spot with nobody within three yards of him.
Joe Rodon was marking him in the first half but wasn't playing in the second, coincidence? Personally I don't think so.

It's already been reported that Spam and Burnley were interested but he prefers us.

One look at the respective training facilities and football stadiums (or lack of in the case of WHUL) would give Rodon something to think about. Plus with Davies & Bale at our club also - it's a no brainer careerwise.

Really? A young centre half that may want to play football week in, week out? Just possibly money may not be the only driving force. If he is 'reasonable' at Burnley or the Spammers he will certainly be an International for his country. At Spurs he may always see himself as being down the pecking order. If he goes to one of these intermediary clubs and does exceptionally there then he won't remain there for his career. In fact it may well provide a good and quicker stepping stone if he does do that.

Devil's Advocate and all that.

hmm West Ham or Spurs....considering that Barnett is his agent as well and has a good relationship with Levy, I think it's more a case, if we don't want to sign him for the fee Swansea want, then we will move on.
West Ham will only be an after-thought, they are nowhere near the same level, but he might have more of a chance of first team football there. That being said, I have seen reports of us signing him and loaning him back to Swansea. If that is true, then I don't think this will have an affect on the Skriniar deal in January. Rodon might come in to eventually replace Sanchez or Alderweireld, but right now, he isn't quite ready to be one of our first choice CBs.

The issue isn't financial.

Football Insider is the worst football source in the UK.
They’ve really had a stinker of a TW, said we were close to signing rudiger and deeney believe they also said sancho to utd was a done deal etc. Anything for clicks I suppose!

Be fair. United fans always think they are signing everyone.

Have they got too many association trained?

2. Association-trained players – players who were on another club's books in the same association for three years between the ages of 15 and 21. No club can have more than four association-trained players among their eight nominees on List A.
