More likely internal politics in Swansea, the club seems to be in a bit of turmoil so I can imagine there may be a high level of disagreement among the decision makers.
I have it on good authority that my hypothesis was incorrect.?

Assume if we get him, Skriniar will not be coming. Still his aerial ability and potential, means he could be good for the long term.

Wonder what is the issue all of a sudden.

Does he feel there won't be much playing time with him not being registered in Europe? Are others in it? Swans pulled out?

We're clearly considering other options as well.

We're clearly considering other options as well.

If those other options are Chris Mepham or Dael Fry as expected, then it really does sound like we're just trying to get another body in rather than playing a long game and getting the right player.

Not so sure about that. Could be a filler with upside potential, as Jose may consider offloading Toby or Sanchez (next summer), while we can still get $$$ out of a deal. ESP Toby, given his age.
To me, the most brilliant thing about this TW is that it puts us in position of strength for the next two TWs, as we don’t have many detrimental holes. Which means we can focus all of our spending on one or two key players, such as Skriniar.

Are there so many other CBs in the Championship that are worth to bring in instead of just keeping CCV?
Thought this Rodon was some kind of special player worth to snap up.

Or we just recognized at the end that he is not HG in Europa. :D

Interesting we are still looking at other options... from what i assumed from JJ comments on Rondon was that he was someone that is ready and come into play and step up to the level, more so over than Japhet atm. From Trix comment if we are looking at someone else, who else could be good enough in the EFL to step up and be ready to play in the PL.... Godfrey and White(who was at leeds last season)are the only names i would have said but they are already in the PL... im not so offey with EFL to know who else is in that bracket. TBF i didnt know who Rondon was until a few days ago. Hercs is saying just now in the ITK thread everything from his knowledge is agreed with Rondon... maybe there is a concern on his injury record?

I'd be amazed if this one doesn't go through, only problem I could foresee is the medical.

And the fact that it sounds like we are considering alternatives.

See Rodon, I could understand given the analysis about him coming out, to my mind the only other Championship defender with a similar reputation was Ben White and he's back at Brighton. I mean I know there's a crazy concept that the scouting team might know more than me but I'd surprised if there's many more defenders in the Championship who could give our current 4 a run for their money.

The only viable alternative I can think of in the Championship / EFL besides Mepham (already linked), is Nathan Collins at Stoke.

Irish, 19 years old, 6'4. Been linked to United amongst others. Obligatory vid..

We can only speculate what is going through our scouts and transfer committee's heads. I have no idea about the Championship players, but surely none of them bear comparison to Skriniar as a fully developed CB that would instantly improve our starting 11. So instead of a player "who could give our current 4 a run for their money", maybe they're looking at a younger and cheaper prospect who's had some minutes but has potential to break into the team in the future. Much like how Liverpool picked up Joe Gomez from Charlton at a young age, and now he's a first team starter for club and country.
