How bad must he be not to get a look in over Sanchez and Davies?

I don't get it. Sanchez only looks anything close to ok when we play a passive team with no attacking force, otheriwse he is turd.

Davies is average at best, shite at worst.

I just don't know why we can't give Rodon a go and drop one of the clowns. He may be worse, but surely it's worth a try.

Injuries it seems....although who knows.

Under Conte, Rodon has tried to make himself available despite some painful rib injuries.

He first cracked one rib and fractured the cartilage during an accidental collision in training, but played through the pain to get himself selected to face Morecambe in the FA Cup.

However, in that cup game after an early aerial challenge, it was later found out that he had cracked another rib on the other side, which meant some of his movement was restricted for the majority of the game.

football.london understands that some of the squad's senior players have been pushing the claims of Rodon behind the scenes in recent weeks, with his ability to play in any of the three positions in a back three, having been a left-sided centre-back at Swansea.

However, Dier's potential return from his thigh injury for the City match could close a window of opportunity that never really seemed to exist for Rodon.

Just don’t get it. Feel like a broken record but he’s so, so good for Wales. And we play a back 3 as well. Considering how poor some of our defenders are and continue to be it’s baffling that he’s not had a reasonable chance to show what he can do.

even Conte seemed to be hinting that he may have made a mistake by not picking him

Im ashamed to say i totally forgot about him. How Sanchez is getting in ahead of him is completely baffling.

My fear is sometimes players get picked for a game where we're expecting to get a pasting, they'll be thrown in and even though it was likely we were going to lose regardless it's almost used as justification like see told you he wasn't up to it. I mean I hope he starts and I hope he smashes it but if we give him a chance then he needs a run of games, I mean others get endless opportunities to put in poor performances.

I know we're in territory of players looking better the longer they sit on the bench but I feel like he has the attributes we are looking for from a LCB for example.

Apparently he played with a cracked rib V Morecambe then cracked another rib during game
He's had some terrible luck at Spurs.
Hopefully he's fine now and deserves a chance during the tough run of games coming up.

As anyone who has ever cracked a rib will tell you it is one of the most painful and debilitating injuries you could get on the football pitch and its testament to his strength that he managed to play on through it. Everyone knows my thoughts on Sanchez and id play any one over him but i really hope that Joe gets a chance and takes it because watching him for Wales there is no doubt in my mind that there is a player in there.

Very true. Sanchez and Davies have made game changing errors and have still been picked to start high profile games. Would be utterly unfair on Rodon, if he struggles in the game and Conte sidelines him again afterwards.

I’ve cracked a rib, broken my thumb at the bass, broke my collar bone, snapped my hand, smashed all my right foot toes - and yes, cracked rib is very painful and restricts a lot of movement, but the most painful break I’ve had, was my tail bone. Jeeeesus, I thought I’d broken my back, the pain was unreal. I caught it on a doorway a weeks or so later too, and I screamed so loud with very bad language, that the whole street heard me. It made me feel sick how much that hurt. But, now I am evolved, I have no tail.

its a strange one, but a consistent one. Practically every recent manager has ignored him, given him very little chances, which is baffling when you see how bad Sanchez is at times.

Must be something we aren’t seeing in training. We need a stable presence in the middle of the defence and as great as I think Romero is, he wants to be proactive and then the whole thing doesn’t work. I think Joe could do a job, just feels tough to throw him in against city.

I remember when he came to us there was an interview where he said something along the lines of “I love defending and hate when we are scored against”. It struck me as a guy who had some real character. That is what our defence needs (whole team really).

Good performances for Wales. Maybe will help him get minutes
Thing is he always plays well for them and still doesn't get a chance. Hes a pure defender, and better in the ball than he's given credit for.

I'd play him all day over Sanchez, not that it matters as he doesn't play either.

I seem to remember reading on SC that Rodon in Conte's opinion doesn't follow instructions and does his own thing from time to time on the pitch. It seems discipline and following instructions is a big must for Conte.

Really? He has praised Rodon's attitude and performance in training and hardly ever played him in a game, and then publicly admitted that he perhaps should gave done.

I’m I’ve noticed in a couple of games that after we’ve scored Rodon has hugged Conte. It’s happened more than once or twice so they appear to have a decent relationship.

I can’t fathom how he didn’t get a game above Sanchez
