So who do replace Jenas with then. Who has his pace, work rate and ability, albeit kept hidden too often.

I understand why he frustrates, thats because he has all the attributes to be a giant. Not sure why he doesn't realise this, but maybe he will and I hope he does it here not elsehwhere, which is more than likely considering the shit he receives from so call " Season Ticket" experts.

Maybe that is the problem. He has hidden all so well that I have never seen it. Let's face he is a lightweight. I accept that he has the "great engine" that all Jenas lovers stress but that in itself is no use if it is not applied to some benefit. He can't defend to save his life and when he does track back he often gives away stupid free kicks in dangerous areas. However in fairness I don't think he has ever claimed to be a DM. As an AM is is ineffective. He lacks vision, is easily robbed of the ball, too often passes square or back and frequently "goes missing" for large portions of the match and has a poor scoring rate for his position. 2 goals in his last 22 appearances is simply not good enough. In all the years he has been with us he has failed to give consistency. With JD and Pav up front he will be competing with Modric and it is no contest. If Appiah signs his versatility will render Jenas even more redundant and he will become a luxury we can do without as a squad player. Anything over £8 mill would be enough for me to wave goodbye without much regret.

A fully match fit Appiah will make Jenas look like Jason Dozzell. We need a better player alongside Modric. In fact we are seeing one tomorrow, Palacios.

JJ has had three good seasons in a row with us, he has been our best mid over the previous two, he's a good prem midfielder and will cost a fair bit if he goes.

As I've said before if Real Madrid want him, I wouldn't blame him for going considering the appalling way he's been treated by a large section of the crowd at the Lane particularly over the years.

i agree mate

unlike carrick
jenas is not a good footballer and has a fraction of his ability
he WILL NOT be missed
the only thing i cant understand is how some fans rate this guy !
obviously not season ticket holders are you !
in my 27 years going down the lane ... this guy has frustrated me the most
you know he could be a good player .... but he just aint (apart from when we play the scum)

time to ship him out and give someone else a chance

4 years of below average peformances is more than enough thank you

time to say :adios: to the invisible man

I'm a season ticket holder, go home and away including all European games. Does that mean I dont know what I'm talking about? It seems a midfielder who has contributed, whether you like it or not, to our success in the last few years is deemed not good enough now for some.

He must be some magician to have pulled the wool over the eyes of Capello, Jol, Ramos, HR, Sir Bobby Robson, to name but a few who kept on picking him.....

It actually scares me that some people rate Jenas. If he's the sort of average mediocrity you want at our club then all the best to you.

So average that many good/top managers (I've named a few in the above posts) have constantly picked him..... If I'm honest I'd rather go with there judgement over any fans, that includes myself, as they know a hell of alot more than we do!

We all have an opinion. I worked at Marca until two years ago now at WS. The managers you have mentioned I have very mixed opinions about so sadly that argument doesn't work for me. I promise you he isn't rated by many managers.

the fact that JJ us rated by every spurs manager that's he played under is very good evidence indeed that he is a good prem player

my point was that most fans that go week in week out know what a liability jenas
is
i know for a fact that however bad jenas played he had to start when he was fit as he had a clause in his first contract with us when he first signed ... i knwo this as im friends with our ex assistant managers son.

the guy just aint good enough to play for us
he cant pass , cant tackle ... but he has a good work rate but does nothing positive with it .... the only strength to his game is his goals .... but even they have dried up this season.

there are a 1000 better players in the world than him
time to give someone else a chance and move him on to his standard of football ... eg a boro / sunderland / wigan team
i always thought that, there was no other way to explain him being constantly picked after nightmarish performances, even by his standards

not if he indeed had that clause in his contract, that meant the manager's hands were tied

My take on various comments:

Jenas is without talent: No! He clearly has ability, otherwise he wouldn't be able to do some of the things he does, and he combines this ability with great pace and stamine.

Jenas is our most important midfielder: No! He is very inconsistent, which combined with his aforementioned ability makes him all too frustrating. He has some great games, but they are few and far between and for someone with such a great engine, he disappears all too often.

Jenas has been our best play for the past two seasons: Not last season, Malbranque by a mile. Lennon, Jenas and Zokora were all very inconsistent. The season before it was between him and Lennon, with Jenas scoring a few important ones but Lennon making a few important ones.

Every Spurs manager has rated Jenas: That much is true. Not sure about HR, only once he has made his own signings will we know that, but Ramos made the guy vice captain and Jol clearly adored him.

Overall, I don't think we'd miss Jenas that much if we went. I think most of what Jenas does, Modric can do, and Modric can do many things that Jenas cannot. If you don't think Modric is a central midfielder than you and I disagree instantly, but I think Modric is a central midfielder, and a better one that Jenas. The big issue with Jenas is mentally. He seems unable to consistently use the gifts he has, and that is an issue now as he is no longer a youngster.

Bullshit. Utter bollocks and a total lie. One of our previous managers would have mentiloned it. Also, do England have to select him?

Earlier this afternoon I wrote this.

I suspect this will happen and when it does he could say stick your miserable poxy support up your arse Tottenham fans and if he does I will say quite right, perfectly justified Mr Jenas well said, you owe Spurs supporters absolutely nothing, they don't deserve you so go to Madrid and be appreciated by fans that can tell a good player when they see one.

Since then there have been a number of posts which have made my case.

If Jenas goes to Madrid and constantly makes sideways and backwards passes like he does for us, with only the odd adventurous pass or surging run forward, then they will have the white hankerchiefs out for whoever signed him faster than you can say "dopey".

If Jenas goes and consistently plays the way he does every 15 games for us, they'll love him.
