Carroll, Jenas, David's and Tainio are as good as any midfield 4 we've had recently.
Sorry but
Lennon Huddlestone Palacios Modric/Kranjcar

Lennon Huddlestone Modric Bale

Lennon Parker Modric Bale

Lennon Sandro Dembélé Bale

Lamela Dier Alli Eriksen
Great memories from that season but Tainio and Davids' gametime was limited the following seasons behind the likes of Zokora and Malbranque. The above are all better midfields.

No offence meant to Steed, loved that man and a great little player.

I think the only reason he wiped his nose on the shirt was that he could hardly drop his trousers and wipe his arse on TV, could he! Could he? ......

This, very much this. Him and Carrick were building something very good.
Yep. He was the perfect foil. Carrick - who was also very much questioned in that some thought he did the square root of fuck all (I know, I know - smh). Carrick would sit deeper and dictate the tempo and direction and Jenas was the runner and the legs of the duo but a runner who could actually play when he got the ball.

Zok was fine as a destroyer but a footballer he was not. It then fell to Jenas to do both roles of the previous CM. Was always an impossible task. Unless you get a Modric calibre player. Again, I'll not hold the fact he wasn't one of the finest midfielders in the game at the time against him. It would be churlish.

Still remember that uber-uber-uber last minute goal he scored against the gooners in a 2-2 draw. Won us a point that day!

Surprised if many fans remember that goal. I remember the ground being practically empty when he scored. Sad ****s leaving a nld like they did.

I wasn't at the game but I was at a Gooner friend's flat that day, along with several of his gooner mates. I celebrated the fuck out of that goal!

His opening goal in the 5-1 sticks in the memory (and his goal in the 4-4). Such a frustrating player. Brilliant alongside Carrick and Palacios (a lot of people forget that 6 month period), but could be absolutely dreadful. There was a game against Blackburn that for some reason has stuck in the memory - he played like he was half-asleep.

I think he's looking like a very good pundit though.

He's a good pundit; articulate and insightful. He was a very decent played but just never quite had what it took to reach the next level. He could do everything but was inconsistent and but I don't think he suited playing in a flat 2. Ironically I think he would have flourished as a young player under pochetino.

Think he talks sense and the things he says usually seem to have a Spurs 'slant', which makes a change from the Liverpool, Arse, Man U etc 'Slant'

I've heard him say "we" instead of "Spurs" several times on TV/radio. He obviously still identifies with the club. Never does that when talking about Newcastle.

He still calls it like it is, though, a bit like Scholes or G Neville.
