Wanted him for three years now, incredible talent. He wants out of Monaco and has a preference for PL so I wonder where he will end up. Hopefully not at Chelsea or Arsenal. Obviously out of our league unless we splash the cash on a huge contract...which we won't.

For me, he wins the Golden Ball of the group stage. What a magnificent player; he seems to make something positive happen with every touch. His vision, awareness, precision, and perfect ball control.. Christ.

I would say James and Cuadrado have been two of the stand out players for me so far in this World Cup

We might well sign J Rodriguez but it will be the crocked Southampton one and not the guy lighting up the World Cup :(.

Colombia's James Rodriguez a real star of this World Cup. Was a big THFC target in AVB's first summer in charge. Shame didn't get him.

Fuck. A. Duck.

I absolutely hate hearing of things like this. For every Eriksen, there's a Suarez (lol), Rodriguez, or Hazard we always hear we apparently just missed out on for one reason or another. Painful stuff.

But that was a year later and probably at a higher price

Right. At that point, he was listed on transfermarkt at 15 million euros. A mere fraction of what he was worth a year later, and especially what he'll be worth after this WC.

Should we put ourselves through the misery of thinking what might have been should we landed Moutinho and James during AVB's first summer in charge?

That hurts, deep. Both of our midfield positions we're weak at right there. Would have had wing options of James on the left and Bale on the right. Oy vey.

On the bright side, we may very well be lamenting watching his performances in this Cup as we watching his stock fly up and Europe's biggest salivate.

FFS Burt, he went for £36m. No way we could afford without Bale sale anyway.
It was the season before he went for that much plus I'm pretty sure Porto did the Rodriguez and Mountinho deal together and attributed more cost to Rodriguez in order to screw Sporting out of some of the sell on fee. It's hard to say who was worth what in the deal.
