We're generally happy with how the transfer forums are working but it has brought up a problem.

The ITK Read-Only Forum is dead - https://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?forums/sc-itk.83/

No one's posting any ITK in there.

There's lots of reasons for this but we'd like to fix it.

This is just a reminder that anyone can post any ITK they spot in there (it then needs to be approved so doesn't show up immediately but we're normally quick in approving it). If you think something should be there but don't want to do it yourself, tag one of us to do it.

We've also asked our resident ITKs to make it clearer when they're posting ITK vs opinion and anything that's ITK should really be posted in the ITK discussion thread.

We'll see how this goes over the next month or so but please help us bring the Read-Only back to life!

Hi Rob, could be wrong but isn’t that what the transfer ticket is for? Along with news from twitter , mainstream media. Seems like a duplicate , and goat hasn’t bleated in a while too

The ticker is partly what's causing the problem but the ticker is for all transfer news. The ITK forum is just for ITK (and it automatically tweets out, bringing in more people to the site, etc).

I agree re. the differencs to the Ticker - but given how the Ticker operates, might it be simpler for the ITK to work the same way - as a dedicated controlled and stickied thread in the overall Tranfer forum, rather than in its own separate section?

For various reasons the ITK works (worked?) better as threads. They play a key role in bringing people to the site and we don't want a situtation like COYS where no new blood on here leads to the site slowly dying.

So Ro. Is the idea then for ITK Forum to only post news such as the Transfer Ticker to be moved there, so it’s only purely a read only section and the “ Transfer Rumors” is where discussion and speculation take place?

The ITK forum is for posting ITK (from @Trix, @Hercules, @JJetset, etc as well as other ITKs elsewhere like ValYid).

It's how it's always been used and hasn't changed. It's just the ticker has overlapped a bit with it recently.

It would be nice to have some way of distinguishing actual ITK from opinions. Wouldn't change much for me but it would save some time for ITKs and streamline ITK thread.

Can the ITKs on this site start threads in the ITK forum, or do they need to wait for it to be approved like the rest of us?

It’s probably just me, but it feels like in general there just isn’t as much ITK as there used to be. Especially from other sites. That could be because stuff is getting eaten up in the player threads. But it def feels like it’s not flowing as much as days of old.

Tbh i didn’t even realise the RO was still there.

I’d agree to some extent but I view the ticker as “live” while the ITK forum also has other purposes: acting as a more long-term archive and also pulling new people into the site.

There’s a place for both if we handle it correctly.

The RO is what bought me to the site. Although I rarely post, I dread to think how many hours in a day I spend on here now.

If I spot anything il happily post it in the RO if it’s of any help

Is it worth moving the ITK discussion thread to that forum rather than this one so people hang out there a bit more? Apologies if I’m being a bit dim.

I find the transfer ticker really useful. The other forum is hard to navigate to from your phone, which I assume most people use. Having the transfer ticker in the transfers area makes it super easy to catch up on everything

Maybe it's just me, but I tend to leave the transfer rumours section open in a tab on my mobile, so it's quicker to refresh and get the latest news (including ITK) from the ticker, rather than navigate elsewhere.

Probably also the case that with Paratici in post, some of the journalists seem to get just as much inside info these days.

I usually go there and lurk/read all the time but have recently ventured into this part of the forum due to the lack of threads there. I was wondering what was up.

First and foremost, I'd like to say what a fantastic job @Rob, @Archibald&Crooks and co are doing on this site. I've been around here for a while, so I have seen the transfer section's different iterations. I think they have stumbled upon a formula that works, but as highlighted by some, including @Rob himself, perhaps the ITK read-only forum might now be redundant.

I want to make some suggestions:

• Rename "Transfer rumours" to "Transfer Talk/Chat."
• Abandon the ITK read-only forum but convert it into a pinned thread in the "Transfer Talk" forum

I have to admit, I rarely pop into the ITK section now, as I just read the discussion thread for any ITK posts and then the proceeding comments., it's more convenient and has fewer clicks to get to the info I want to read.

This is a fantastic Spurs site, with great resident ITKs and run by people who know what they are doing; I'll donate.
