Looks like your right.
As long as they aren't registered to another club it might be OK.

Not sure if they would have to be free agents at the time of the window closing.
That’s the bit I don’t get... otherwise what’s to stop any player buying out his contract and signing for a new club at any time?

If you remember the season we got 4th but had it taken away because Chelsea won the champions league .
We were knocked out in the early rounds of both domestic cups and was not in Europe .
In my opinion missing out on Europe for the one season when Jose is trying to rebuild the whole squad would be a godsend .
But knowing us we never seem to do the easy thing this won't happen and will probably qualify for europa league .

Depends how we manage it.

The Europa can be pretty useful for us bringing through the young players we wouldn’t risk in CL, or who perhaps wouldn’t cope with the standard.

I agree the 2nd half of the season could become a problem if we’ve not sorted out the squad. But surely we’d also have a problem attracting or developing a quality ‘rotation’ striker without Europe.

If we’re out of the title race by spring, it’s also a chance to win a trophy which we can’t turn our nose up at, given our record of 2 league cups in 28 years.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Yeah, so the old Sturridge thing... He is banned until the end of the season anyway :D

It's nothing to do with rehab, he's gone to be operated on by the same specialist who operated on the arm when he broke it 3 years ago.
He flew there before there were any protocols introduced about travelling to/from South Korea.
It's typically hilarious crap luck for us, but your anger should be aimed at Sonny, it was his wish to see the same specialist.
I'm sure it was his wish but it should be the club who say no. Not being funny but Corona was exploding across Asia well before he went. Common sense not to send him there and the club were foolish to do it.

If we aren't in Europe we won't be signing the players required as the club will be worrying about income against transfers. Just like the previous excuses of not investing until we were guaranteed to be in the knockouts when we played the swiss team away. We have a history with things like this. No income from Europe leaves a big hole in the finances when you look at how much we made recently.

Have u ever considered that the club know a damn sight more than you on the matter? That maybe there are very specific reasons why they wanted the same surgeon as last time? Or is blaming the club just your default response?

It's amazing that you're not working for the club with your knowledge and expertise.

I'm guessing our medicat team specialise in sports injuries and won't have much input on the coronovirus.

We have always sent players to see specialists, or medical teams they have used before for serious injuries.

Fatigue is probably a big reason for our injuries. Players pushed too far during training and then not getting the time to rest and recover

surely you’d like a range of specialists, from
cryogenics to nutrition, and programmes designed to build up immunity against viruses etc?

the vast majority of the Korean cases are way down south, though. I reckon Son will be doing whatever he needs to at either FC Seoul or a national team facility well away from the hotspots.

I’m actually surprised to see Suwon playing in the Asian Champs League here in Malaysia tonight...

Sorry if this has been asked before but how did son break his arm? I missed the villa game as I was on holiday. Was it a bad tackle?

bit then we’ll have ‘there’s no money to spend because we missed out on CL football’.

It was his collision with Konsa in the first minute that did it apparently. Nothing malicious.

This is the problem. I would guess our transfer budget will be very different depending on what European competition we are in , if any next season and could put the handbrake on our much needed rebuild

This is what the board never seem to understand when we're competing on 3 fronts most of the time. One injury slightly increases the likelihood of another injury in one position, and if there's a second injury then that likelihood goes up even more. This is what I think is happening here now.

A lack of depth in any position means players get overplayed and so the thin number of options gets thinner.

If we somehow get through against Leipzig, expect Lucas, Dele or Lamela to fall soon because of the sheer amount of minutes.

Well, I think we’ve solved that problem for next season. Not going to have to worry about Europe.
