.... How would you feel if they were to come fifth, and Villa coming fourth?

I was thinking about this the other day. And although I would laugh at a possible demise in fortunes and possibly another trophy-less year for them. They may also lose some key players who have desires of CL football.

However I would be a bit gutted that we weren't the ones to get 4th (which is highly unlikely, unless we go on league winning form). Obviously we had a great chance to get 4th a few years back and never took it after a horrid last day. I really want us to be the club that can break the so called top 4. Which for us obviously means waiting a year.

I'd be happy. Villa would struggle if they have to play Champions League Football next season. Thats provided they even qualify. But it would be great to see someone else finish in the top 4. And i think Fabregas would move to Barca if that were to happen (possibly even if it doesn't.) That would be a big loss to Arsenal. And none of the top 4 have been without Champions League for a long time now (Liverpool qualified by winning the Champions League when Everton finished 4th for example.) So it would be interesting to see how it would affect a club like Arsenal. Especially with their new Stadium holding them back financially. We could finally close the gap if this were to happen.

We aren't all that far off the scum really. I mean if you look at the squads and compare them we match them/better them in some/most positions.

Someone do a comparison im to lazy to do it.

The thing about it is that they are Arsenal. They have a name. People tend to fear that name. Its the same with all the top four. Consider that we are unbeaten against all of those sides so far, not many teams can boast that. Most likely because they fear those teams.

I will do a sex wee in my pants if the scum finish outside the top 4.

However, I'm more concerned about where we finish and for us to head into next season without Europe worries me greatly. I'd rather qualify through the league too, so it's league game victories that I really, really want.

Let's beat that filth at the Lane too - that'd really fuck em and help us on our rise up the ladder.

I would be happy with anyone bar Wet Spam finishing 4th to be honest if it was at the expense of Woolwich. Just to see how the media reacts to not being able to wank over the 'big 4'. From what i have seen so far Aston Villa really deserve it, i rate MON as a top manager and in Agbonlahor and Young they have two of the hottest prospects in English football.

I keep having to play down Villa's chances to the missus who supports them. Write off the Gooners at your peril.

I just don't see Villa being able to keep up the form they are in, especially with the size of squad they have. I don't think you can write off Arsenal, I doubt they will lose as many games in the second half of the season as in the first, especially if they get some players back or sign a midfielder in January.

I'd be happy, but a little annoyed that we have fallen so far behind that we're not capable of challenging them.

It would please me, then I'd be depressed knowing that we had the chance to do this to them 3 years ago.

I think it would hit them hard if they didn't have CL, but they can't be idiots, they must have budgeted for a one year sabbatical from the competition. IMO what would do them in, is two years out of it.

Totally unbias view.

Gomes > Almunia
Corluka = Sagna
Woodgate = Toure
King > Gallas
BAE < Clichy
Lennon = Walcott
JJ < Fabregas
Zokora ? Denilson
Bentley < Nasri
Bent & Pav < Van P & Adebayor

This means fuck all to me in all honesty though. Its about the manager influencing his style of football on the team, arsenal team is weaker then Liverpool's/Chelsea's/Man Utd's imo, but they play a brand of football, and have an understanding and mentality that allows them to play a cut above their true standard. It obviously helps as well that they do overcome us in most positions.

i have a vila supporting mate, he is a total twat - more so than any of my goon mates, so Id rather they get 4th just, and WE beat them to it soon!

btw off topic mkkid, you have a pic there of carlingcup and in your sign your critcising enic, i dont quite get it? isnt that a bit contradictory! "Enic"/Levy have brought us a proposed new training facility, new stadium, amazing financial stability considering those around us, a carling cup, continued UEFA cup football (not achieved since the 80s) and top drawer acquisitons we could have only dreamed of pre-ENIC (Modric, Pavlyuchenko, Berbatov, Woodgate, Zokora, Jenas, Carrick (reserve your personal opnion all of these were sought after and chose us! Who did we get before? fucking Ramon Vega and Paolo Tremezzani!)). Sorry mate but Id rather have a THFC here to support than nothing.

You missed out Modric Rackybear.

But i agree. You cant exactly compare teams on paper anyway. We've often looked good on paper, but our team often lacks a togetherness and balance that the likes of Villa are showing. I think we'll be better off in that respect, now that Harry is here. I cant imagine Harry leaving it very long before he signs a left midfielder and a defensive midfielder for example.

Its as simple as this for me at the moment though. Spurs have a better squad on paper than Villa. Villa have a better team than Spurs.

I want anyone, dont really care who it is, to finifhs above them and nick there CL place. Add to that hopefully they will win sweet FA this season and then the likes of Fibreglass, Adebayor will get itchy feet. That would be 4 years without a pot and no CL footy, no doubt there will be a mass exodus again.

I think arsenal will have a tough job making 5th, Villa will top them and for my money so will Everton, they are hard to beat, they are steadily picking up wins with no fuss are only 5 points down after a crap start to the season and their form over the last 6 weeks has been superior to arsenal.

If we win the Carling cup and a lower team qualifies in the FA cup the Uefa places move up to 5th and they may miss out on Europe alltogether I bet none of their fans have thought of that, yet!

I've not even mentioned Hull who could be that FA Cup side even if they don't pip arseanl in the league.

In fact the various permutations are quite delicious.

Rackybear misses out Modric again!

I wouldn't mind Villa finishing 4th at all, yes I would love to have been the team to do that but if the top 4 monopoly is disturbed it would be great for football, and I have nothing against Villa at all - and they would have done it the proper way.

Arse really need to finish in the top 4, in fact it's essential for them. With the world economy shitting the bed at the moment they will be really neck deep in it. The flats that lie where Highbury was aren't being sold and they have debts that would be crippling if they didn't qualify. If they failed it would be magnificent, and we can win the league cup.

Comon Villa and Spurs!

Vintage words from the Big Man:

Hamburg boss Martin Jol got in a dig at his old rivals on Tuesday as he claimed Aston Villa "are better than Arsenal".

Jol will face Villa on Wednesday night in the UEFA Cup, and the ex-Tottenham manager is predicting a tough game against a team who leap-frogged the Gunners into fourth place in the Premier League at the weekend.

Both sides have already qualified for the next round of the competition but this final group game will determine the standings and seeding for the knockout draw, and Jol is not expecting Villa to take it lightly.

"The question is whether they will play with all their regulars," he said.

"The first-team of Aston Villa are better than Arsenal and, next season, Villa will be playing in the Champions League.

"They have a very clever manager and I cannot imagine him not wanting first spot.

"Villa are perhaps one of the best teams in England."

Hamburg's director of sport Dietmar Beiersdorfer added that beating such a strong side as Villa would do his club the world of good.

"We desperately want to win this game," he said.

"It would be good for HSV's reputation on the European stage."

Jol should recall defender Guy Demel to his defence after he was suspended in the Bundesliga at the weekend while there is a doubt over the fitness of David Jarolim, who has taken a knock to his knee.

This is Hamburg's last game of 2008 before they break for almost seven weeks.

A 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday ensured they will spend the winter break lying in fourth position in the Bundesliga, just two points behind leaders Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich.
