We should at least get him involved with building the new Stadium. Actually come to think of it that would delay the stadium until 2050.

I'll ignore the insults keyboard warrior, but you wasn't saying that all.

I'll copy and paste what you wrote as you seemed to have lost the ability to know what you are actually saying:

TwanYid said:

Can somebody PLEASE tell me how this guy can be paid all this money without having to actually turn up and practice/play?

Isn't that grounds for breach of contract? I.e., couldn't such behavior annul us from having to pay him?!?

How could a player refuse to play and still get his wages???

He has at no time refused to train or made himself unavailable for selection.

I'm pretty sure that he made himself unavailable for long periods last season. Stating family issues. But not this season as far as I know

He's still here because we offered him ridiculous wages over the term of his contract. Nobody in their right mind would match the money he's on so he's still on our payroll. The notion of him sitting around doing f*** all for 100k a week is sickening, but he has no shame and will milk us for every penny. God only knows why we ever got involved with him but Levy made a bed which we now lie in.

To be fair though that was at the time basically half the wages he was on at City. Blame them and the other carefree spenders for hyper-inflating the market.

I don't blame City at all. They paid him ludicrous wages but that was their business, which they could easily afford. They were glad to pay us an enormous amount in wage subsidy to get shot of him which, along with previous club departures should have been enough to set alarm bells ringing. Instead, we chose to extend his contract and let him strong arm us to keep his money flooding in. We also paid him a massive signing on fee to start with. He's always been greedy and, IMO, deflects a lot of criticism by throwing cash around to charities. It all serves to fuel his gigantic ego as much as anything.

I think it's pretty obvious that if Ade wanted to play football this year he could have left in the summer. The Aston Villa interest was there and there must have been other loan offers.

He doesn't want to play and seems happy to sit out this year. Only thing to do is keep him away from the squad.

That we know of, anyway. It is plausible that he has made excuses not to play (like when Paulinho left and some of the media quoted a Spurs source as saying they would take bets on when he would pull up injured just before an EL game so he didn't have to travel - so it does happen...) or taken several leaves of absence - thus making himself unavailable. The reasons may be genuine, may not be genuine or may be exaggerated. We don't know.

We do know that he has had at least one long leave - after the long-term family problems came to light during a period where he wasn't being selected. We do also know that his move from Man City to Spurs was so protracted that he missed pre-season with his new club and spent several weeks on the bench while he got in shape. We also know that he has failed to turn up for International duty several times as well.

I'm sure you'll say some of this was out of his control, which may be true, however it may also be true that these moves are designed to limit his participation while appearing cooperative and allowing him to pick up his wages without deductions. There was a thread (somewhere, forgotten where - sorry) about how AVB called him to convince him to drop his demands and then two points of view on the matter; one saying AVB was annoyed with him from the very start for arriving unfit and another that he agreed to halve his demands (from 5m to 2.5m) to leave City.

Jason Burt - I think - in the last few days of the deadline said that Adebayor is a businessman first and a footballer second. Thing is, everyone knows this and you get what you pay for with him.

I'm sure there are two sides to the story. Making him out as a victim is probably not entirely accurate. I'm sure someone with an inside track to the club can expand - if they are able to.

Swans are in the same situation with Michu. Why on earth didn't we just see if they wanted to do a loan swap for the season? But then saying that if Ade didn't want to go to Birmingham he sure as he'll wasnt going to go to Wales...
Maybe we need to speak to them and try to fathom out a way to cancel both players contracts.

Send him to Sherwood, so he can give Ade the keys to the club much to Villa's delight, I'm sure...
