Am afraid there is still an element of a small club mentality with some fans but it can't be helped as the club as a history of selling our best players.

We have to keep these players Modric Bale Lennon VdV if we want to smash the monopoly no point in selling.

He's priceless. Irreplaceable . He virtually runs every game we play. We sell him we may as well pack it all in and start a cricket club or something.

i agree & i just cant see where the "small club" mentality has come from???

its simple, do we need the money? NO

can we replace him with better???? HELL NO

whats the point of selling him them?? ERM NONE

he is everything thats good about us, he glides around the pitch & wants the ball in the tightest positions...he is simply a wonderful player, our best by a million miles...

he is a barcelona player...he is that good & when they come knocking we will have a problem....& they will, eventually they will

a bindipper at work went to the game at the weekend and he said Modric ran the show for best part of it, says it all really. The confidence to go to Anfield and be the best player on the pitch. We must keep him at all costs

I don't get it. Money can't sell Modric. Levy can, but not money. It's an inanimate object.

There will be a riot if Modric is sold...seriously we can't keep thinking like this or the club bending over and getting F***** up the ars with pound notes by clubs like UTD. We have to take to fight to these clubs and really challenge them from now on and we're gonna need players like Modric at the club full stop.

Modric's next move will have to be aboard.

He is my favourite player and has been for a while, long before he was getting so much admiration and before alot of Spurs fans grew to really appreciate him. Some on here once thought he was overrated. I believe many fans of other clubs still do.
When I was ordering my champions league jersey (a once in a lifetime opportunity to do that :) there was only one players name going onto it. Our one, true, top top draw worldy.

In saying that, we have performed without him, and will continue to do so. A midfield of Lennon Huddlestone Sandro Bale with VDV and a truely world class striker would be just as effective, or more, than the current side with Modric and any one of our three planks up front.

He is a special player, but Spurs would move on without him. £40 - £50m would be difficult to turn down. Maybe not this summer, but next, I think we'll see it happen.

Didn't realise Modric was planning a career in sailing!

Modric will only ever be sold if;

he wants to go

and we get a huge fee for him

Cant see it happening anytime soon, and it would take a lot more than 30 million.

I'd sell him for the equivalent for complete funding of the NDP. So, £450m, as ultimately that will be a bigger catalyst over the next decade and more for us to truly compete than simply retaining th best players in our current squad.

Otherwise, no deal.

Modders is just approaching his prime - easily over the £50m mark and i dont think many clubs can offord that.

I think we will see more goals from him as well. He started to get in better positions, knowing that Sandro had his back.

I do not believe that we are so dependent on him :eek:mg:

You are not to be believed.

The only criticism of him is that he doesn't score enough goals and in truth I think his penalty taking is a bit dodgy too (despite the anfield one), but who cares he is great to watch and at times mesmerizing with how much time he creates for himself and his ability to find those short and more recently long passes.

Apparently Man U are willing to pay £35mil for Modric (+Berba).

http://www.footballtransfertavern.com/2011/05/premiership/modric-is-man-utds-no1-target-35m-player-deal-will-echo-berbatov-deal-in-more-ways-than-one

It's a tempting deal but Berba is a short term solution. But taking on this deal will mean us dropping a place or few places down the table in strength.

I'm saying no to this as there's no need to sell him and we're not financially in trouble. If I was Levy, I won't even bother selling any of our star players, why? Long term wise, it benefits us more - qualify for CL next year will earn us £30mil, that'll surely pay for the striker we'll be buying.

Selling our deadwoods mean we'll have more money to spend, our revenue is on the raise, in few years we'll be challenging for the title and that will generate a massive income plus new stadium should be coming in the not-so-long future. Everything is going upwards, if we sell Modric then that shows signs of no ambition, and will lose out on revenue due to the increasing amount of games lost from Modric's departure.

35 million plus Berbatov for Bale would get me

but Modric no chance.

Bale really? I'd say no as well.

VDV I'd say yes for that deal though =d

Well I would consider an insane offer, and 35 million plus Berbatov would be pretty big.

Not saying I would do it for sure, but it would get me thinking.
