He was Dembele(possession and outrageous ball control), Eriksen (vision and freekicks), Alli (magic out of the blue) and Kane (goals galore) all rolled into one.

Please please watch this and know that you have witnessed arguably England's most skilful player ever, whose skills were not appreciated by the silly England managers of the 80s.

The older ones bear reminding too.
Such skill on those pitches.
Staying alive was a priority too
watching some of those tackles.

That was a nice way to spend 16 minutes on a Monday. I was at half of those games and although the pace of the game is faster now you only have to look at the pitches and challenges coming in from all angles to realise he would have been equally as good in today's game. The balls were horrible as well.

Such great memories of my favourite player ever to wear the lillywhite. Let down by shit England managers Time after time. Nice to hear ray Wilkins say that glenn was the best English player he had ever seen on talk sport last week.

The reason I became a Spurs fan in a town which was all West Ham...

If only he could've learned how to time a pass

Genius. Artist. Had everything.

Could play golf and snooker shots with a football with both feet.

Can't recall a player being able to get backspin on a ball like he did; volley like he did; strike a ball with such immaculate technique.

Simply, a wonderful footballer.

Also if you didn't know which was his 'strong' foot watching all of that video and you are none the wiser.

So few players are that good with both feet

The reason I wore number 10
The reason I untucked my football shirt
The reason I played the way I did.

Quite simply my idol as a footballer growing up. So much skill. But it always amazed me how he could hit a ball and land it at someone's feet. Almost every time. So wasted for England. I will always love Glenn Hoddle.

In my mind was the equal of Platini who was the best in Europe at the time but for some bizarre reason overlooked by England all too frequently. A wonderful player to watch and produced some of my most cherished moments at the lane.

What ever happened to the stab pass/chip, watching that vid reminded me I did it all the time when I was playing (in 5 a-sides). Hoddle did it a lot in this highlights reel. I don't see players doing it anymore, is it something to do with the balls they use these days?

You basically stab at the ball to give it back spin. Really handy when chipping balls over the top.

Honest opinion and its not based on bias... Hoddle was better than Platini.

Ossie was my favourite player and his rainbow flick in a spurs shirt captured me forever. Always pisses me off when they claim its neymars.. Bollocks ossie did it 30 years before you.

Some players carry a driver, a 3 wood, a 7 iron and a pitching wedge in their good foot...

Hoddle carried a full set in each boot.

On a par with Platini? Not even close in my opinion. The only player better than him in the World at that time was Maradona and even he couldn't do much of what Hoddle could.

He was a gift to Football that England clearly were blind to.

A travesty that he played second fiddle to journeymen and donkeys.
