First half he was fine, second half I don’t know what happened. I think both him and Hojbjerg just feel better playing with Sissoko in there. It’s why we desperately need another player with a good physical presence in midfield who can also play.

These comments after a WIN where we, in the main, made the opposition look like schoolboys are fucking laughable. Winks was no worse than any other player FFS. He did his job. I really don't see why some fans feel to have an agenda against one of our own players. Especially with the coach we have now, he's not gonna play any player out of loyalty, he's too ruthless for that. So maybe Winks just isn't as shit as many of you want to make out.

I never get this. I'm over the moon we won. Love seeing Spurs win, it's great. But i can't talk negatively about a player in victory?!? A player for me that adds nothing other than decent (nothing more) ten yard passing. He should be standing out against these teams, but never does.

Winks was worse than Sissoko and PEH. The two other guys who played CM.

So you're saying Jose still has Winks in our best 11? He's slowly started to transition to PEH and Sissoko and like with Dele i think he will come to his senses.

All he can do is pass a ball ten yards. Adds nothing else, one of the weakest and worst tacklers playing CM i have ever seen in my life. PEH did more in ten minutes than he did the whole game.

I'm sorry but he is barely a squad player let alone starting 11 for us.

If he played / started against us in CM, would any of you be worried? You'd likely be celebrating as you know we could easily dominant him and he adds zero threat offensively and zero strength defensively.

Must have completely blanked out the first half then? He wa very good, 2nd half he a was poor, I'm pretty sure he managed to pass the ball more than 10 yards in the 1st.

i didn’t say Winks is in our best 11. I said he did his job tonight in decent team performance. He’s good squad player. Not every player needs to be a superstar.

His game has completely gone, dunno what has happened to him. I'm sure there is a player in there, must be all in his own head. Can't fault his effort really. I hope he improves, but if his current form continues then might be time to consider moving him on.

Played the best he has in a while first half and so he should, the opp were poor, but 2nd half, wtf happened?
I know it was an unlucky freak goal but I'm getting pissed off repeatedly seeing us concede every time he's on the pitch and he always seems to be involved in it somehow, be it a shit pass, clearence or an idiotic foul.
Its not an agenda either, its an opinion. He's not good enough for a top 4 team.

the 10 yard pass to Kane in the first 2 mins was the best pass of the game and deserved so much better.

enough said about the 2nd half though as he totally stank the place out.

1st half he played as the deepest midfielder, 2nd half he played as the box-to-box and tried too hard to be creative. He's certainly more of a DM than a B2B CM nowadays, the question is can be defensive/physical enough to be the holding midfielder.

Yup too many people are all too easily judging this display off his 2nd half rather than his 1st, the reaction in theory should be neutral not overly negative.

His first half was a lot better than his second half was bad. So it's ridiculous that people r just focusing in on the negative. He definitely needs to be more consistent but if we get more of that first half then we are in good shape.

Seems really low on confidence atm. First half was what I want from Winks in terms of progressing the ball but he can’t play in a 2 with Sissoko against better opposition

Solid player but he’s really not creative enough to play as an 8 and not physical enough to play as a DM. Like Dele, his inability to specialize in our very deep and competitive squad could cost him his spot.

We have plenty of talented CMs — I’d like to see us sell him for another homegrown DM like Phillips. I think Skipp should get another season on loan to develop if we’re in the Champions League next year, preferably a loan in the PL (maybe with Norwich)

My number one target would be Dennis Zakaria. He's got the physicality of Sissoko but is actually good with the ball at his feet. Definitely would add much-needed steel to our midfield.

You're right about Winks, he's unfortunately just too lightweight and doesn't impose himself enough.

Still young enough to adapt and improve (and clearly needs to), but strikes me as the type of 'good pro' every successful squad has and needs. He's got all the tools, probably a late bloomer in figuring out how to use them.

I thought he played some decent stuff last night . Few great threaded balls thru , one of which Kane should have buried. Should have gone in half time 0-6.

Which was why it was so shocking when it comes to the 2nd half after Hojbjerg came on. He played like two different person!

This just backs up my point further, it's come to those that support him having to talk up one half of football from one of our players (45 minutes), to say he plays well. This was against very average opposition. Ok he may have passed 1 or 2 balls 15 / 20 yards. But still no one tells me what else he can offer.

What about the 3 completely terrible fouls he gave away in this very good first half, where he showed yet again he has no idea on how to actually tackle.

What are these tools you allude to? I'm just curious.

He is 25 in February you know this right (older than both Tanguy and Lo Celso)? PEH is 7 months older than him and years ahead of him as a player. This is a guy that lots were 50/50 about us signing and saying he is an ok buy and his passing isn't all that, his passing is miles ahead of Winks and that's the aspect of PEH that was meant to be lacking.
