Winks even at his prime and was a England player was admired for his forward passes and not so his defensive work

He should be the back up for PEH and not the CDM . CDM is not his role .

He is like Ali right now. In an awkward place where he is not played in his favourite position cause there are better fit. Unlike Ali he is trying to adapt as CDM but he just does not have the positional sense or strength or speed for that role.

Once we get a proper CDM, i think Winks time might be up unless we keep him as backup for PEH

Sorry, but I must have missed that game where he played forward passes!

But what is he actually good at?

Like I said I genuinely believes he drags the level of the team down when he's on the pitch.

I'm not saying that this is 100% the reason but look in every game Winks has been a part of vs decent opposition this season... The only game we've won was Southampton. He started the Everton game, Antwerp, Newcastle and was on the field for all 3 goals vs West Ham. He causes chaos for us defensively and totally softens us up in the middle of the pitch.
Hard to disagree

1). He has never been known for forward passes (certainly not long ones)
2). PEH is the CDM. I agree Winks is not one of those
3). Ali is Alli and wants to be known as Dele

Other than that, you are bang on

One thing I find a bonus is that Hojbjerg is much better in an att@cki g sense than I thought h3 would be.He is also a better passer than imagined.

He's a Spurs player brought up playing the Spurs way by Spurs.

We are not playing in the Spurs way at the moment.

This is the problem of Harry 'Spurs' Winks

p.s He's failing to adapt which is of course his failing.

What does any of that even mean?

Thought he was really good in the first half. The whole team looked a little disjointed second half though.

I thought he gave the ball away unnecessarily on several occasions through sloppy play but I was pleased to see him being more positive with his passing by trying to take us forward. He will get games in this competition but I honestly thought Moussa was far better than him today and showed why he has the PL shirt next to Pierre.

Always wanted to see him do well as he is Tottenham through and through, but I'm struggling to take to him his constant giving the ball away and soft tackling don't endear me to him.

All he can do is pass a ball ten yards. Adds nothing else, one of the weakest and worst tacklers playing CM i have ever seen in my life. PEH did more in ten minutes than he did the whole game.

I'm sorry but he is barely a squad player let alone starting 11 for us.

If he played / started against us in CM, would any of you be worried? You'd likely be celebrating as you know we could easily dominant him and he adds zero threat offensively and zero strength defensively.

Solid player but he’s really not creative enough to play as an 8 and not physical enough to play as a DM. Like Dele, his inability to specialize in our very deep and competitive squad could cost him his spot.

We have plenty of talented CMs — I’d like to see us sell him for another homegrown DM like Phillips. I think Skipp should get another season on loan to develop if we’re in the Champions League next year, preferably a loan in the PL (maybe with Norwich)

These comments after a WIN where we, in the main, made the opposition look like schoolboys are fucking laughable. Winks was no worse than any other player FFS. He did his job. I really don't see why some fans feel to have an agenda against one of our own players. Especially with the coach we have now, he's not gonna play any player out of loyalty, he's too ruthless for that. So maybe Winks just isn't as shit as many of you want to make out.
