We need to sell Kane now, cant lose him for nothing. It would have been amazing for us to have him as a one club man but if that was his intention a new contract would have been agreed long before now and not been allowed to run into its final year. Shame but we need to move on and the sooner the better so we can kick this rebuild into gear.

When i saw his office, I was surprised by the lack of crayons...
I did however notice this note on his desk

Oh not saying it isn’t his choice, if I were him I’d be riding this out and doing what I want next summer

For Ange it’s a rubbish situation. Do you build a team around him for one year? Probably not. It’s not like we are able to just drop him come Jan if he hasn’t signed, which is what we absolutely should be doing
Sorry but totally disagree on this one. First, it’s not a question if building a team around him - the team will just be better with him in it than without whatever the system. And the idea that we should drop a model professional for 5 months if he doesn’t sign in January is ridiculous. I’m pretty sure Man City knew Gundogan was leaving when he was their captain scoring goals that won them trophies

Certainly have his pick of golf courses, they are everywhere around here. Queenwood just down the road too.

I was having a look on the planning website the other week to try and find his house but couldnt find it. It will be there somewhere as the papers seem to know where it is. Probably in one of the gated Wentworth areas.

I get what you are saying, but Man City are in totally different situation.

We've all got differing opinions on this and mine is all in on if he doesn't sign we have to do everything we can to try and get him out this summer. I think a lot of people are being naïve to how unsettling this will be for the squad come the winter.

A lot has been mentioned as to how Ange needs "full buy in". Kane not signing a new contract means he is not invested in the club long term, which is fine. But if a brave new era is starting, we should not be making exceptions.

Just my onions, so you get what you pay for - but when Ange says he wants full buy in - I don't think he means, "I need only players who are here on multi-year contracts."

Ange has been pretty honest about his views - he deals in the here and now, and not in the what-ifs.

So, if a player turns up to training today, fully committed, then Ange would take him today. If that changes tomorrow, Ange would change his view tomorrow.

I agree, but like you, just how I’m reading it from the outside.

I remember reading about when Beckham was in the last year of his contract at Real. Capello wouldn’t play him, assuming he wasn’t committed. But over a few months he saw how hard he trained and started to play him.

If Kane is focused on having a great season and wants to wait to see what his options are before committing, I’m fine with that.

I think the point is you can't drop him. The team is almost certainly better with him than without. But I think the debate revolves around whether keeping him for another year outweighs the potential benefits of selling him this summer and getting used to life without him now.

A lot of people have suggested Kane is the difference between winning and not winning a trophy. For instance, you mentioned Man City winning trophies with Gundogan. But Kane hasn't been the difference between winning and not winning trophies. I'm not saying that's his fault, but it's a fact. Even suggesting Kane is the difference between qualifying for and not qualifying for the Champions League is not right. Since 19/20, with Kane leading the team, we have finished 6th, 7th, 4th and 8th. So even if the Champions League places are expanded to include 5th, we still would have only qualified once since Pochettino left.

I agree we are a better team with Kane. But 'better' might be finishing 6th rather than 9th. 'Better' might be reaching the FA Cup Qs as opposed to being knocked out in the previous round. Then the question is whether that better is better enough when Kane walks on a free. Does that better justify the potential advantages of allowing him to leave the previous summer?
