This "premier league" record stuff is a load of bs. In 30 years time when theres whatever version of the european (or saudi!) super league, nobodys going to care about premier league records.
PL record is one thing. All time English scoring record is something else. Kane's not touching that one. Football didn't begin in 1992. Hope he smashes Shearer though.

Are there any quotes from Kane that the PL goal scoring record is actually important to him or is it something we've latched on in hope he stays here?

He could get it if he does play for another 10 years as been hinted at 'playing until he is 40' would need to avg 15 goals a season though

For sure it’s something I want to do. I think whenever you get close to these types of records, all it does is drive you, to try and achieve them. But bit by bit, I just like to focus season on season and if I can score a few and help the team win this season. In a couple years we will see where I am at and how close I am but now I am this close to it, for sure it is something I would love to achieve,” Kane told Sky Sports

Is playing at the top level until your 40 possible in England though? A Premier League season with additional domestic and European cup ties is a slog. If Kane wants to prolong his career, especially his international career then an 18-team league with one domestic cup and a winter break would be a good option.

LOL at the Bayern stuff. £100m + Coleman and there might be a discussion, anything less than that and Levy's not going to pick up the phone.

Smells like a "we tried our hardest" from Bayern type approach right now. If I was Levy I would come out and state that Kane is worth in excess of £150m to us.

Thats what i mean, thats the actual bar, as opposed to Shearers.

Ton of goals either way but footy didnt start in 92.

Wonder if the signing of Maddison leaves Kane tingling at least a little in his pants?

Kane is one of the best centre forwards in the world (if not the best) and has been starved of chances a lot in recent times and will now have a proper play maker behind him again, as well as Kulusevski who hopefully won’t be marked out of game now as they’ll have to worry about Maddison as well.

Son should hopefully be back to best next year as well as has had op on his injury and hopefully new system will suit him better.

To be fair - we really have not been wanting on the attacking end...

We still need to sort out the defensive end before we see any real progress - as far as what Kane is looking for.

Thing that excites me is we'll have 2 players to run in behind (Son and Richy), 2 players to find them (Deki and Mads) and Kane to do both (and finish). Magic options. Add on another (Gil or Solomon) and we'll be flying.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I'm sure that it would be a player that he'd relish playing with. The Ideal scenario would, I guess be one more season with Kane and he signs off with a cup.

75 out of 100 fans couldn’t tell you the all time scoring record holder. 95 out of 100 can tell you the PL goal scorer record holder. For younger fans, life pretty much did begin with the PL. it’s the highest watched league in the world ffs

Yeah defence is the main priority as we’ve shown our offensive play can be very good when we play on front foot, but that we probably haven’t due to concern about the defence.

But we have also at times felt we could do with a little more intelligence passing forward, which Maddison will bring.

Past 36 or so he'd probably go the way of Sheringham and end up a bottom half side with no European football where he could tot up 10-15 goals per season.

I think given his intelligence and passing ability he could play at the top level until v.late. Not sure about 40 but late 30s at least.

Reckon he'll want a stint in the US at some point, though.

It didn’t start in 92, but you cannot compare football in the sixties to today’s football, either. Kane would have smashed that record if he played at that time.
