Looked so rusty and also tactically unsure of what he was doing. I think maybe under Poch the plan was *Harry go do your thing* and he did. Under Jose maybe he has been given more to think about other than being Harry Hotspur bang em in from every angle.

He's clearly lost a bit of pace and mobility over the last few years, but he's a better passer and more aware of his teammates than he used to be.

Yep, that’s why he’s having so much success as a false 9 for England with Rashford and Sterling running behind him.

The ironic thing is that his own movement/awareness has gotten worse, everything can't be blamed on those around him.

Terrible game from Kane, but the service and tactics was awful. Imagine getting service from Sissoko Winks and Lamela - it’s laughable really.
Kane will be just fine.

I was expexting rustiness but not to that extent. He was way way off the pace

Agree. watching David Brooks, who has been out for 14 months with 2 ankle surgeries in that time, shows that although time out can be significant, Kane is a long long way from his best.

If we get a big offer we must sell. It's becoming clearer and clearer by the day that all those injuries have taken their toll.

Even if that were true and Levy wanted to cash in, do you really think we're going to get anything like a good price for him in the current climate? Clubs have all been haemorrhaging money for half the season and we still have no idea how anything is going to play out in the near future. What club is realistically going to sanction a 150m+ transfer offer for him at the moment? Let alone when, by your own admission, it's "clearer and clearer by the day that all those injuries have taken their toll"?

Please read this with an open mind and without your Kane-tinted glasses.

My thoughts on Harry Kane. He has been our truly world class striker which he have not had since the days of Klinsmann. The fact that he is Spurs' top scorer in the Premier League charts by a mile speaks volumes of his capabilities.

However, there is something about Kane that is untouchable. Poch couldnt drop him when injury-free (CL final comes to mind) and now Jose does not seem to be able to touch him as well. In addition, the club went to great lengths to ensure he claimed the goal that touched the end of his hair.

This, to me, is very very unhealthy for the camaraderie of a club. I cant say for sure how the CL final team selection affected the morale of the squad, but what i can say is that if I were one of thsoe players, I would feel less enthused with that decision.

And yesterday, when it was obvious to a sane person that Kane couldnt cut it throughout the entire match, Jose still did not take him out, and instead took the industrious Lamela and the speed of Bergwijn out, depriving us further of the counter-attacking strategy we set out to do in the 2nd half. If that isnt special treatment, then I dont know what is.

I dont know guys, but it seems pretty obvious that there is something going on behidn the scnes about not wanting to offend Kane.

I seriously feel the club needs to take control of this situation and take a more balanced stand on the special status of Kane, or risk disrupting the team strategies and squad camaraderie.

You appear to be looking too deeply into it.

He's a talisman. He maybe on the wain or he may return to former glories, but until it becomes apparent (may already be) that he is not going to return to those glory days then of course he will be front and center, as he should (just)

Its hard not to think if we'd look better with 150 mil in the bank to buy new fullbacks, a CB and a ST..

United are well known for having huge cash reserves and are probably in the market for a striker. It might be clear but the man has a huge reputation. Remember how Pool fleeced Chelsea in the Torres deal? We should be looking to do the same.

Regardless of the current climate Chelsea are throwing their weight around in the market, pretty sure United can do the same.

Falling into the same trap we fell into with Eriksen.

The same MO that helped progress us we've gotten away from.

If the offer is massive, I'd sell.

Players on pedestals in this day and age for a club of our standing isn't worth it.

The last one we had is currently enjoying the sun with a fine bank balance in Madrid.

I've been commenting on the special status of Kane for a while now ,it makes me uneasy .Surprised too that Jose seems to have continued
with this . I'd add that the club decisions not to buy competing forwards...or new forwards being aware of Kane's untouchable status at Spurs and not wanting to be affected by it , look odd .

So , as with others here , if a truly massive offer came it would have to be considered . However ,Kane has many skills and we must wait to see exactly how far his recovery may go . Also there is some truth in the comments that Jose's 'Low block' system doesn't suit him .

We have another 8 matches in which he is guaranteed a starting place regardless of form for assessment to be made re his potential , we must pray there is no new major injury breakdown .This worry must be a big part of the reason Kane is so peripheral atm ,so mebbe
his confidence in his body strength will return and so a bit of form .

Its very concerning tho that its a long time since we saw him at his best .

There’s a pretty obvious reason for Kane not harrying down and pressurising their centre backs at every opportunity, if you think about it for a moment.

But it could and should have been Ndombele, Lo Celso and Winks

If Mourinho has picked that midfield on Friday we’d of lost. Who is winning the ball? Who is non stop running? It ain’t any of them!

We can only play one of lo celso or Ndombele in this side, playing both is a recipe for disaster with a proper defensive midfielder.
